WE HAVE THUNDERSNOW!!!!!

cantore.gif
This afternoon about 4:00 we had about a half hour of thundersnow between Denison and Storm Lake. Lightning was bright and thunder pretty loud for as muffled as it gets with the snow- just about like a springtime storm.

Just had a solid few rounds of thunder snow here north of algona.

And, I know I'm supposed to hate all cyclone fans, but check your furnace vents. Mine was damn near covered. Carbon monoxide poisoning doesn't sound fun.

Us hawks arent all dicks..

Sounds like Algona will be pretty much shut down here shortly to prevent people from going out of town and getting stranded.

It's not nice. It wasn't nice at 6p and we've had a f ton of snow since then. Probably have 8"+ in my driveway.

Have they made any progress on the ice rink parking lots? If not....Godspeed.
lol
The parking lots are relatively good. Roads are wet, but there is some solid puddling in low lying areas. It's going to be unpleasant as the temp drops overnight.
I'm thinking "Disney on Ice" will be the theme for tomorrow.

So who else is watching sub pumps? Mine is running every 30 seconds in Monticello.

Eff me.

If we had one we would. We live on a hill and the rain water and snow melt is running down the side of our house and onto the driveway right at the garage. It was backing up into the garage but I got that damned off.

Just shoveled about 8 inches in BC. Not fun.

I'm in tyke, have a guy that moves my snow. Shoveled around my vent pipe, nothing more. I'll gladly pay to not have to move this ****.
Well, if I move it I can pretend my back hurts so I don't have to parent tomorrow.

Decisions decisions

Not worried about sump pumps but I'm just watching the snow pile-up and then thinking what the drifts on the driveway are going to be like with 50 mph wind gusts coming.

Similar situation, but instead of garage it's pooling badly all along the front walkway. I've been clearing the water on the hour. The warm up and then freeze days have caused some ice dams on the north side of the house where the sun doesn't quite reach, so I broke up the lower one this afternoon, but the second story one is going to have to wait until mother nature melts it.

Driving 1st Ave around 630 was horrible. Rivers of water and ice chunks flowing everywhere.

I am worried about ice dams too. Have had some pretty big icicles form on the south facing side of the house. I have been knocking them off and put some ice melt tabs up there a few days ago. If they don’t melt off soon I may have to get more aggressive with that heat rope stuff.
