This afternoon about 4:00 we had about a half hour of thundersnow between Denison and Storm Lake. Lightning was bright and thunder pretty loud for as muffled as it gets with the snow- just about like a springtime storm.WE HAVE THUNDERSNOW!!!!!

Sounds like Algona will be pretty much shut down here shortly to prevent people from going out of town and getting stranded.
lolHave they made any progress on the ice rink parking lots? If not....Godspeed.
It's not nice. It wasn't nice at 6p and we've had a f ton of snow since then. Probably have 8"+ in my driveway.
So who else is watching sub pumps? Mine is running every 30 seconds in Monticello.
Eff me.
Just shoveled about 8 inches in BC. Not fun.
Not worried about sump pumps but I'm just watching the snow pile-up and then thinking what the drifts on the driveway are going to be like with 50 mph wind gusts coming. So who else is watching sub pumps? Mine is running every 30 seconds in Monticello.

If we had one we would. We live on a hill and the rain water and snow melt is running down the side of our house and onto the driveway right at the garage. It was backing up into the garage but I got that damned off.
Yep, Des Moines/Ankeny has been on the "edge" of it. Radar showing it's getting closer but not getting what Ames & West Iowa is that's for sure.Thankfully hardly anything on the ground in ankeny, not much rain today here either it doesnt seem like.
Similar situation, but instead of garage it's pooling badly all along the front walkway. I've been clearing the water on the hour. The warm up and then freeze days have caused some ice dams on the north side of the house where the sun doesn't quite reach, so I broke up the lower one this afternoon, but the second story one is going to have to wait until mother nature melts it.
Driving 1st Ave around 630 was horrible. Rivers of water and ice chunks flowing everywhere.
