1700 this afternoon

Cotlar is a Drake fan first. Aside from him I think most are hoks. I actually suspect that Keith Murphy may be a Cyclone, but has to hide it because of his job.

Murph is not a cyclone fan. He roots for both teams. He is from Florida and his favorite team is the Gators.

Well didn't Keith's wife go to ISU?

I would consider him pretty neutral. though he'll definitely stick up for ISU, especially if a Hawk fan is being a d-bag, which is often.

What was Walters tone in that convo?

John was pretty put out you could tell. The producer just announced him as John, they didn't know it was him until he said "this is John Walters". Cotlar (the idiot) was asking ISU fans to call in and talk about "at what point will ISU begin selling out regularly, at what point will that happen?", and also began speculating on how bowling in the SEZ will be funded, such as raising tuition. Walters called in to in his words "put things into perspective" about the funding and fan attendance this year. How the place is packed at every home game and if people would pay attention they would know that. I'm sure that comment was directed towards Cotlar and Garmon. He also said the fan support is there to justify bowling in the SEZ, just look at the hillsides. It wouldn't be so much as selling more tickets, but putting those people in seats rather than sitting in the grass. Cotlar is an idiot, and Garmon is a hok homer. Their ignorance never ceases to amaze.

His wife is an ISU grad. I don't think he is a Cyclone like you suggest but I think he is neutral and understands the struggles ISU faces in football.

Travis and Tim - blatant Hawks, I don't see how this could be argued. Tried them for a couple days, went back to Mike and Mike.

Murph and Andy - Murph slight ISU, Andy is probably the most neutral guy on KXNO.

Miller and Brinson - Miller strong ISU, Brinson strong to whoever they are interviewing on the show at a given time.

I wouldn't say strong but I agree with the ISU tilt. He also really loves him some C-Willy.

I just listened to this again, because I paid no attention until I heard Walters start talking originally. "When will Iowa State start to pack Jack Trice?" HOW ABOUT NOW YOU TARDS!

Starts around 66 minutes on the podcast

Geez. These guys need to do their homework. Sounded out-of-towners who didn't even know things that were obvious to locals. Waited for them to say Dez Moinez.

Just spend a few minutes reading CF threads.

So I guess we'll find out at about 5:55pm tomorrow if John Walters blatantly lied to the Champ's listeners earlier today. Walters put himself in a position to be asked that question, and no one should be fooled, he knows exactly what's going on with the team injury-wise.

Finally got to listen to the conversation. Walters gave a classic "spin" answer. Probably not the best idea for him to call in today.

No kidding since Knott is not playing.

You know, the injury happened in the 2Q last week but he played the rest of the game. I'm starting to wonder if he might play another week. He is certainly tough enough.

Why the hell shouldn't he lie? He is an Iowa State employee. I would expect him to keep an injury quiet if that is what his EMPLOYER wanted.

Frankly, we are just talking a football game. I get why the Daily 'broke' the story, but I have no problem if people are keeping it quiet for Iowa State's sake or Jake's sake.

Hope this is not Benghazi all over again.

Travis and Tim are terrible. A perfect example of this is when Tim spent a week arguing that Iowa's win against N. Illinois was better than the Tulsa win b/c N. Illinois kept it closer. That is idiot circular logic if I've ever heard it.

Murph and Andy are fine. Sometimes Keith is annoying, but whatever. They are at least knowledgeable and entertaining. You can tell these are the guys that have real jobs and thus real talents (unlike the morning guys!)

I like Miller. Frankly, if he was on his own for a show, I'd listen every day. I don't know that he favors Iowa State as much as he doesn't fall for the Hawk BS, but it is nice. Brinson is awkward and old, that being said.

I honestly hardly ever listen to Garmon and Cotler. Only on Fridays when I go out to lunch and I catch about 15-20 minutes in the car. Cotler is like the 10 years younger version of Brinson. Garmon is kind of a jerk towards Iowa State. He was one of the MANY media in this state that was pretty gleeful about Iowa STate possibly being without a conference a few years ago. And that crap today about not filling the stadium shows that he is very ignorant of the school that is actually in his viewing audiance.

I don't think he's technically an Iowa State employee, I believe he's employed by Learfield Sports, but I know what you mean.

The point is that John should have known he would be asked about this issue and should not have put himself in a position where he would have to sit and straight up lie to the fan base. It was obvious that the question took him completely by surprise, but it shouldn't have. At the very least his answer could have gone something like this:

"Well, everyone saw that Jake got dinged up in the OSU game, and obviously he was not at 100%, but he toughed it out and continued play. I know there has been some speculation this week as to his health, but what I can say is that the trainers and doctors have been working with him all week and the hope is that he'll be at 100% on Saturday."

I mean, c'mon. All of us saw him last Saturday, it doesn't take a doctorate degree to figure out that he wasn't at 100%. If we can see it, the opponent's coaching staff damn well can see it too.

Actually, I think that he IS an Iowa State employee now. I don't think cyclones.tv is learfield sports.

Again, I don't see why IF he knows the truth him not telling two idiot radio hosts is an issue. I would have been ****** if he had told them. And if he lied, I have no problems with that. I don't feel it is our right to know every piece of information.

I am also going to guess that when he wasn't an ISU employee and was working at channel 5, he purposely tried to avoid such information so that he wouldn't feel he had to rat out Iowa State.
