South Dakota forums

Teams are 4-1 post Ireland matchup since 2022. (NW had a bye the following week) Stats don’t exactly indicate that it is as major of a factor as you’d think.

Keep in mind that they were in and out of there in roughly 72 hours. Little easier to adjust back to US time the less time you spend overseas.

I think people forget a team like UCLA now has to play at Rutgers which is about a 5.5-6 hour flight and 2500 miles.

The charter flight from Des Moines to Dublin was about 7.5 hours and 3900 miles. Definitely further but not like it's in a different world.

Interesting tid bits from USD's preview:
  • This will be ISU and USD's 10th meeting (series is 9-0 ISU)
  • ISU and USD's first meeting was played in Sioux City (11-6 ISU)
  • Last meeting of ISU and USD was in 1959 in Vermillion (41-6 ISU)
  • In the seven previous visits to Ames, the Yotes have not scored a single point.

I’m not worried about us being ready for this game. I think we roll SD. Hopefully after this weekend the team will be back to a normal routine.
I found it interesting on the pod that Blum mentioned that the players had to stand every 30 minutes in the flight home. Assuming to help prevent jet leg, but would be curious for someone smarter than me to explain this concept

They're going to bring everything they have. That's just the reality every time an FCS team plays an FBS team.

I think it'll be a fairly close 1st half, but over the course of 4 quarters, our line play (both sides) should have an advantage and we should capitalize. I think I saw on their message board that one of their 2-deep DTs is 245 lbs. It's hard to compete for 4 quarters if you don't have depth to rotate guys.

Ahh, old lakesbison. The guy who was so upset about the school changing its mascot, that he threatened a state senator, and had to have a "talking to" by the state police.

Also, if I recall correctly, he used to claim to have been a member of one of their sports teams, baseball maybe, and that fact featured consistently in proving the legitimacy of his arguments. Difficulty: He wasn't in any of the pictures that were taken of the teams during the time he supposedly played, he never logged a statistic, and nobody remembered him being there.

He was as much of a joke with his own fanbase as he was with opponents.

Sometimes I miss that guy... but then I remember that there's another roll of toilet paper in the cabinet under the sink.

He also got kicked out of multiple bars on Welch Ave. the year ndsu beat us even though he claimed he was partying it up on Welch all night both nights.

I assumed is had something to do with circulation, but I have not idea.

Probably to help blood circulation, prevent strains, stretch muscles post game would be my non doctor guess.

I remember the North Dakota fans having the same confidence about beating us last year....and they all shut up when we scored on the first drive in two plays. That game wasn't pretty but it was also never in doubt and Iowa State was in firm control.

South Dakota is a good team, but they had to replace a ton and they have a first year HC with a bunch of new coordinators and transfers. I could see a slow start by us (nothing all that surprising), but I think the depth will wear down the Coyotes.

Clones win, 42-13.

And the time zone adjustment coming back west is always easier than going east. They were there short enough to where their adjustment period shouldn’t take much longer than a few days.

That 12:00 drive was one of the most painful football drives to watch. 23 plays just to end in the FG.

FWIW, the “really good” South Dakota team from last year lost 27-13 to Wisconsin last year, who was one of the worst teams in the Big 10.

Play well and limit turnovers/mistakes and this game is a blowout. Play awful and have a ton of turnovers and allow them in the game and obviously who knows.

Its good and fairly common advice for anyone on a long haul flight. As others have said its about blood flow. It helps with circulation which is very important for muscle recovery after a game. For the average person its more about blood flow to help prevent a blood clot or other issues. My plan on flights to and from Europe has been to stand up every hour and go for a walk to the front or back of the plane every other time I stand up (unless I fall asleep then that takes priority).

On long flights, I've seen people who must wear specialty socks too.

I thoroughly enjoy a good dust up with an opposing teams forum. Well done lawman.

I think one of the funniest ones I’ve seen was when @CoachHines3 got into it with the Miami board last winter. Something about a corncob and kissing a relative I think is what got him banned. I can’t find it but someone should dig that up.
got banned in about 2 mins. Had to of been some sort of a record
