Was mowing my neighbor's yard yesterday and noticed the gal that lives behind him on a rider mower, taking the grass down to about golf green height. When she was finished, she brought out her weed eater and was cutting some taller grassweeds. I didn't see if she cleaned the mess up or not as I was done mowing. Just got me to thinking what other's do.

I mow 4 yards in our neighborhood for elderly people. It's been a challenge lately with all the heat and rain to stay ahead of the game. I will usually weed eat first then mow.

Off topic, but my god are the weeds out of control right now. I'm pulling weeds nightly and I can't even begin to keep up. Beginning to think my house was built over a vineyard or something with the amount of vines that pop up.

If I know the yard, weed eat first so the cuttings get mulched by the mower. If it's a new yard, mow first since I don't know what spots will require the weed eater.
This. Both houses I've had to mow at when I started mowing I would always mow first, then clean up what I missed later. Did that for a few mows and then switch.

Who mows first? That makes zero sense to me.

Another great question is - do you have a dedicated edger or use your string trimmer to do the edging?

I do both - if I'm in a rush I'll do it with my string trimmer, but 80% of the time I use the dedicated edger and get those nice crispy lines.

I have attachments for my string trimmer. Edger snaps in if you take off trimmer head.

I string trim every other mow. I edge maybe every 4 mows.
