Grill has developed into a great player too

But those guys made jumps as they became older players

CuJo is a 23 year old senior. Grill a 24 year old. Bob Jones was 22 as a senior

Rock will always be at an age disadvantage to his class. As a senior he’ll be 21. Two years younger than some of these guys.

The German big is likely going to be a 21 year old sophomore next year- big advantage over Rock to be two years older but with the same eligibility
You’re right Rock coming in early is clearly going to lead to the downfall of our program. Even if it wasn’t necessarily the best move for the program it just may be the better move for his future getting more time to develop v. D1 talent instead of 6’2 posts, so selfish. Plus it’s pretty clear TJ can’t recruit so I’m not even sure why we’re playing out the season. Thanks to all of you that continue to dwell on this.

No, but I understand why you had to resort to this.

It’s better to be “old”. That’s always been true, but now more than ever. Whether it was a mistake is debatable depending on the objective, but it is not hindsight that it was likely to reduce his cumulative college impact.

It’s better to be young in the NBAs eyes. I’m sure he had those aspirations when he made the decision

Rock turns 20 in March and Pleta turns 21 in October. Which means they will both be 20 turning 21 as sophomores. Both will be 23 when graduating as seniors.
Both Twitter and Real GM has Rock as 18.

Pleta on the other hand will be 21 next year, and presumably a sophomore

Even if Jones could come back, I would think it would be extremely unlikely his stock is really high and actually has a chance to maybe make some dollars at the next level

NBA doesn’t take flyers on someone who will be 24 in the draft, unless you were referring to overseas. Then I could agree with that.

Everyone is sleeping on Kellyan Toure too. He is skilled.
I'm not sleeping on him. He's the most athletic of the class and plays tenacious defense. I can almost see him getting spot minutes like Watson based on his defense. But, he'll be a freshman and I expect another guard transfer to join the team to fill in for the offense we'll be losing with KG's and CuJo's departures.

Yesterday’s game against Houston was essentially a preview of our roster next year without what happens in the transfer market. Offense was rough but that insanely tight defense kept us in the game. Otz will get a couple of scoring guards in the portal. This team will be just fine next year. That German kid could be a big deal also.

Aren't there good freshman coming in? Is the offseason development being discounted?

IF we have the NIL funds, totally agree.

Sure, but if you’re expecting freshman guards to start immediately that’s a tough feat. Otz will get a guard or two that can score big in the portal. Bench should be deeper next year and if the guys can develop then the team will be very tough to beat. I like Batemon a lot, but he’s not likely a starter next year as a freshman. Otz will get a one year scoring guard and Batemon will get bench minutes and hopefully be ready to take over as a sophomore.

Are we sure that DP is a 5? He looks like he is more of a wing in his highlight videos.

I would love to see the Rock back up Jackson but he seems a ways of from that. Doesn't mean he can't get there but right now I think another 5 it's needed.
