I love the stuff for kids, especially the turf field. When the College Football Hall of Fame was in South Bend, they had a field outside there. The carpet wasn’t great but my kids spent hours there. Trying to kick field goals, playing pick up flag games, running pass routes, etc. Burn off some energy before and after going in the building.

If I won the lottery, I would freaking live in Cytown. Walk to concerts and games. Go down slides. Never worry about getting parking or how long it takes to leave. Hope they use the amphitheater for university music and theater productions.
Imagine all the hammered tailgaters on gameday, going down those kiddie slides... what fun!

Wow I'm pumped that looks awesome. Excited to see how all the food and beverage places fill out.

Will be interesting to see how the amphitheater is used during game days. @brentblum get a bunch of Ames Lager beer carts to the amphitheater and green spaces and get that $

Looks awesome and can't wait to see and experience the finished product! I also wonder what the impact to being able to set up our tents and tailgates in the paved lots surrounding CyTown will be once up and running?
Hearing that on gameday no tailgating allowed anymore. The spots will be needed for Cytown people to park. :jimlad:

Something like the Big Grove location in Des Moines is what I expect. Would be cool if Confluence did something but it's probably too close to Des Moines. Hopefully it's something unique and not some chain thing. Anyways should be cool either way.

Yeah, I thought maybe Big Grove or Toppling Goliath, but with Big Grove moving into DSM, I doubt they do it. IMO TG has kind of went downhill and the best breweries in the state are Confluence and Big Grove. I don't know that West O is big enough to take something like this on. I guess what I'd love to see is the Full Court Press guys open up a 2nd Iowa Taphouse there. A bunch of Iowa beers in one place. That would kick all kinds of ass.

90,000 SF of office space is roughly 450-900 office workers, when full, according to Google's Gemini. Combine that with hundreds of daily users for McFarland Clinic's different practices.

I wonder how many research park office tenants are interested in moving their space to CyTown? Especially if they have students working on-site

The Cardinal will easily stay full adjacent to campus the way it will be. It will be the #1 choice of prospective students and their families on any recruiting visit during the week from November to May.
Agreed - so long as it is priced fairly! I wonder if they will offer a discounted rate for prospective students/families for a night so long as they book an official campus tour

I was going to say the same about pricing. I just did a search on my corporate travel site for prices in Ames in mid-April and it was from $65 at EconoLodge to $204 at Gateway. Most places on South Dayton were under $100 and not sh**holes, so if you want people to stay on campus it better affordable or worth the price.

Already anticipating some high roller donor complaining about not being able to get their car out of their condo/suite parking on gameday and the AD having to scramble to accomodate their comings and goings during the height of gameday traffic.
Tunnels. We need tunnels.

Did anyone catch that Jamie said The Cardinal hotel will be 7 stories? That's getting close to Maple/Willow/Larch height.

Wonder if the hotel will have a restaurant/bar as well? And if that is in addition to the Johnnys that will now be in Scheman?
That hotel bar would get blasted before and after games in Hilton.
I think he said in the vid it would have a rooftop bar.
