One of my takeaways from this is that JP is probably around at least until 2030 to see this through all the way. He really has been a visionary, the best AD in the entire country.
He's here until he wants to retire. But 2030...2032 (when Otz and Campbell contracts are up). Gonna be a hell of thing to handoff to the next person.

ISU could be a top AD job in the nation when it's all said and done, if you look at status of programs, financial position, and the built-in potential of CyTown. That's crazy when you consider Bruce Van de Velde was who we had immediately before JP.

I never figured Jamie to be a legacy type guy, and maybe he isn't the kind of guy looking to have his name plastered on a building some day. He comes across as a highly competent manager and maybe a bit of a bean counter. But this is so radical for the university and the community it's hard to view it any other way. This will be successful and he'll deserve most of the credit for making it happen.

Bruce was making sure lights were turned off to save $$

With JP we're wondering what bar - restaurant will be an anchor in CyTown.

Huge huge difference

I can see those suites selling very quickly. Demand for those will be high for donors/fans, especially those that have longer drives and don't want to bring an RV.

Side investment as an Airbnb for the other 46 weeks of the year??

SIAP but is it very obvious that opposing teams for lots of sports will want to stay at "The Cardinal" hotel?

Seems like a dream for opposing teams actually.

Duh!
Hilton would have been great but at least Marriott has experience running a “college” theme hotel in Lincoln.

I also think naming it Hilton Hotel would have been a little to on the nose and kind of cheesy.
As a frequent traveler and Bonvoy member, I am happy it’s a Marriott property.

Wonder if the hotel will have a restaurant/bar as well? And if that is in addition to the Johnnys that will now be in Scheman?
That hotel bar would get blasted before and after games in Hilton.

I love the stuff for kids, especially the turf field. When the College Football Hall of Fame was in South Bend, they had a field outside there. The carpet wasn’t great but my kids spent hours there. Trying to kick field goals, playing pick up flag games, running pass routes, etc. Burn off some energy before and after going in the building.

If I won the lottery, I would freaking live in Cytown. Walk to concerts and games. Go down slides. Never worry about getting parking or how long it takes to leave. Hope they use the amphitheater for university music and theater productions.
