Video looks great. It honesty looks exactly like Pollard has described from the very beginning (which is why I had high hopes and excitement from the beginning) My concerns a few months ago when the BoR meetings were taking place look pretty silly now in hindsight.

Well done, JP!

Marriott-branded hotel connected to *Hilton* Coliseum??

....huh....

Seems like a missed opportunity by someone there
Hilton would have been great but at least Marriott has experience running a “college” theme hotel in Lincoln.

I also think naming it Hilton Hotel would have been a little to on the nose and kind of cheesy.

What kind of restaurant do you think goes in here? Pie in the sky would be something local-ish like Toppling Goliath but I think they are opening in Des Moines so probably not. It has to be a place that attracts people from outside of Ames IMO. Maybe something like Yard House? Not sure if something like that would want to expand into Ames though.

Something like the Big Grove location in Des Moines is what I expect. Would be cool if Confluence did something but it's probably too close to Des Moines. Hopefully it's something unique and not some chain thing. Anyways should be cool either way.

Being able to stay on campus again is a game changer for Alums like me who moved away long ago. Closing the hotel at the Union was a mistake in my opinion. Sure it wasn't anything fancy, but staying there on a game weekend was fun. This will be a nice touch and make tailgating that much better!
I know....truly a no brainer. I know there are tons of hotels out east off HWY 30 and a couple decent ones...but Gateway kinda run down, etc....and there are SO many things that will fill this....bball games, wrestling, career fairs, events at Stephens, summer conference groups, etc. Will be interesting to see the rates for an average Wednesday vs a gameday.

This seems like a sized down version of the Star in Frisco. Really really cool.

Edit: and I just now got to the part of the video where JP said they copied the football field from the Cowboys. Love it.

Loved to open the curtains at the MU with a view of campus when waking up. Other than that the experience was, uh....rather Spartan.

This honestly forces the Gateway to update and do something more competitive. Their near monopoly as a walkable stay to JTS has let them get away with murder in how they price themselves, IMO.
