Maybe if it gets a roof and some outdoor heaters like KC P&L. Weather could be a little sketchy in Ames that time of year to spend several hours at an outdoor game watch without an assist with some shelter.Future official site for Iowa State final 4 game watch?
Nah, I'd rather watch us play live at the venueFuture official site for Iowa State final 4 game watch?
I was also definitely skeptical of those suites/residential units when the first Cytown plans came out. However, the initial plans had only 20 residential units, and the newer ones in the BOR doc had 60 units. I assume they wouldn't have made that planned increase without getting substantial interest from the kinds of people and businesses that would be in the market for those units.Totally agree that there is some sort of premium attached to the proximity. Being right in the parking lot versus a 5 minute walk away. I'm just curious if we have enough fans with the means and desire to pay for it. All I read on here day in and day out is how we are a frugal fanbase, how we don't have that pool of whale donors. Every press box expansion discussion mentions there isn’t demand for suites beyond what we have.
That just seems hard to reconcile with the idea that a bunch of people are going to pony up 500k to 2.5m for a 10 year agreement on a gameday crash pad.
Totally trust JP to do the due diligence on this stuff. Just find it interesting.
I've had the same thought. Although, I would also guess it means the feedback has been more interest on the lower end of the $500,000 to $2.5m scale. So they are increasing the number of units (and potentially reducing their size) to get their maximum revenue number while accounting for costs to construct the units.I was also definitely skeptical of those suites/residential units when the first Cytown plans came out. Dear construction engineers and builders,
If Pollard says the amphitheater will open fall of 27, when does that mean they break ground on the area? Spring of 26? Keeping in mind Pollard has said Goldenrod is doing everything at once, versus phases..
From last night's (Feb. 4) Coaches Corner:
*Currently in the "duck paddling" stage -- a lot going on under water that you don't see
*Next step is Goldenrod picking construction firms and talking to prospective tenants
*300+ overtures of interest; many probably not realistic once costs are known
*Likely to have more information to share publicly by/before March 1
*McFarland breaking ground Spring 2025
*Earliest for any other ground being moved would be late Fall 2025
*Probably take 6 months for the process of selecting contractors, negotiating leases, etc.
*Then go back to BOR, usually a 2-month process given their meeting schedule
*Heavy 2026 construction season
*Majority of CyTown up and running by late 2027
Bet that garden doesn’t last very long with a bunch of Iowa State fans drinking and dancing around it.
BUT THOSE CRAPPY HAND DRAWN RENDERINGS!! I WANT TO B*TCH ABOUT THOSE HAND DRAWN RENDERINGS!!!This looks better than I hoped, and I had pretty high expectations.
