In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

Closing in on an hour at Mullets and still haven’t been served. We wouldn’t have drinks if I didn’t go to the bar. If anyone is looking for a job this place needs help.
I have no idea how they stay as busy as they do. I have literally not talked to a single person who has had a good experience there since they opened.

Probably upthread but Brick City didn't survive their relocation. I liked going there though their quality had slipped it seemed after the move. I assumed something changed in the back of the house.

Not a ton of options for breakfast. I talked to someone at Caroline’s when they opened and told them they need to be open for breakfast on Sat/Sun but they didn’t listen.

I tried the breakfast burrito at the Ames Mullets and it was the driest most bland bb I’ve ever had.

I'll admit that I'm not huge on going out for breakfast, but I actually feel like Ames has quite a few good options for no larger than it is. The Cafe, Provisions, The Grove, El Jefe, Flip N Jacks, Perkins plus a handful of other small cafes like The Dot and Lockwood.

That’s fair. We were looking for a more casual spot with bloodys. Probably should have just done the cafe or flip N. Not a fan of The Grove personally.

Yeah, you're right in that very few of those options are good for bloodys. I really hope that Mullets figures it out, but I haven't really seen or heard of any improvement in the first 6 months.

Went this AM and soooooo many tables were just piled with dirty dishes.
I want every business to succeed but that one is struggling.

Never even heard of this place. What is it and where is it.

But the Ames location has gotten a pretty bad reputation, especially for a place that just recently opened.

Mullets recently started franchising.
Which isn’t a bad business model if the franchisee knows how to run a restaurant. Problem is the Ames operator does not.

We were at the Ames Mullet’s the night of the Kansas game we had a party of 10 there at 5:30 as the game was at 6 that we weren’t even going to. The host told us that we should probably go somewhere else. Wowsers!!

Not to excuse this, but at what point do you go find someone, anyone, for clarification? No way I'm just waiting more than 15 minutes without saying something.
We told the manager maybe 30 minutes in. I could go on and on about what went wrong but overall I could tell the staff was poorly trained and they needed additional hands. There was no sense of a team effort. Everyone stuck to their role which doesn’t really work when the place is understaffed.

Some from OC went there but most were server side. I need work but that place is toxic environment.

Word is that a new place maybe coming to OC location but rumor is it is another mexican restaurant.

It’s management. Ames Mullets is absolutely trash. I can’t wait for it to close so something else can open there. I didn’t realize it was a franchise which explains why it is run like absolute ****.
