2024-2025 MBB computer projections thread

Had the ball in his hands some for certain sets but definitely not a point guard. True wing.

AJ Green and Bowen Born were the ball handlers on the teams he was on.
I don't see either Nate or Nojus being part-time PGs. One of the freshmen or a transfer will be needed next year.

I know recent history would point otherwise - but I think we could see Batemon and/or Moore play some backup PG next year. I could see Batemon stepping straight into the Keshon role - he seems to have a similar game.

More than anything it lets them be really picky in the portal - if the right experienced combo guard is available, I'm sure TJ will make a play for them (and TJ almost never misses in the portal)

Agree, but I don't see KG as being a part time PG, but there he is with the ball half the time. So maybe that's Nojus next year?

We were a premier transfer destination before being a perennial powerhouse. We can get who we need.

Gilbert and Jones are going to be significant departures. No way around that point. They're probably the two best SGs we've had at the same time since maybe Naz and Matt Thomas as seniors?

I think Heise and Nojus are going to be ready to assume much larger roles next year to replace them, though, and TJ has a touted SG recruit in Jamarion Batemon who might be ready for minutes early.

I would imagine an old dude combo guard or SG is on the shopping list for this spring. They came close with the Florida St. guy who ended up going to Gonzaga, but I'm sure other opportunities will exist.
Gilbert and Jones are a better combo than Naz and Thomas were. I'd say by a pretty significant margin.

Both Naz and Thomas played in the NBA...right? Both duos were/are fun to watch for sure! Something electric about the two we have playing for ISU right now though...maybe I felt that way about Naz/Matt...been awhile...

Naz and Matt were terrific and that duo offensively was right up there with Gilbert and Jones. I would give Gilbert and Jones the nod offensively because both of them are more dynamic and can create on their own a lot better. Defensively it's not even close though.

Naz and Thomas were an incredible duo. I just don't think when you factor in ability to be a primary ball handler and defense they were as good as Jones and Gilbert.

Naz and Thomas were awesome, but they played off of Georges and Monte. Gilbert and Jones are the initiators of ISUs offense, around which everybody else works.

And defensively, I've never seen anyone in an ISU uniform like Gilbert. He's truly the tip of the spear on an elite defense. Even more so than Lipsey in my opinion.

Yes Naz and Matt were fantastic. Of course they weren’t as good defensively - their coach didn’t prioritize it.

Every morning I check sunrise/sunset time(I'm a nerd and mentally I like knowing we're one day closer to days getting longer), and bball analytics. Hey it beats politics and the retread of "who is better, Lebron or Jordan? "

Looks like not much change in hoops last night (couple easy Big 12 wins) since a double MNF night. I'm assuming before too long Mondays going forward will ramp up.

You'll be waiting awhile. With this ridiculous college football playoff we won't get a Big Monday game until Janauary 27th now.

I have no idea how anyone can judge Tech or Cincy yet. I feel like I don't know anything about those teams.

Q1 layer looking good.

Still heavy on Q4, but we're likely to have "only" 6 this season, compared to 9 last season (DePaul wasn't expected to be good, but I don't think it was projected as a 300+ NET team).

Computers still love Houston...

I'm going to redo my analysis of schedule strengths next week, but it wouldn't surprise me if Houston dodged more landmines than did Iowa State and Kansas when it comes to the conference race.
