The bigger question is, does Bill's girlfriend show up
with him at the press conference?
Man, I could be wrong, but this has epic fail written all over it IMO
Considering his record as a HC is abysmal without possibly the GOAT as his QB, yeah. Dude is nothing without Brady
Not just that, but his age, never having been in college, plus that, ... man, I don't get it but its not my money so oh well
I don't know why (or maybe NFL teams didn't want him) he didn't just go into the administrative side of a team.
I can maybe get it from his POV. He goes to college, works with young kids for a year or two, proves he can connect wih the young student athlete, maybe he gets a tiny crack again in the NFL as a head coach if he can shed the label of being a old hard a** who can't connect with today's young player.
So if that's the case, I Get it from his POV. And not wanting his last experience on the SL to be getting fired / forced out. I can appreciate that.
But from UNC's perspective? I can't understand at all. You get rid of your best HC arguably, to replace him with a tarnished, old coach as well whose never been in college and the luster of his name is not what it once was. I really don't see the upside.
5-10 years ago this a steal and coup of the century. Now? Just a head scratcher
Dude wants absolute control, no NFL team is doing that again especially with how awful he is without Brady
It could blow up in UNC's face. But if I'm a betting man, he'll do fine by UNC standards. Bill's going to hire great assistants and kids are going to want to play for him. He'll have no problem selling kids he can make them NFL players.
I would have thought he'd get a better job than that. Maybe he wants to be in Vegas.
Will he get great assistants? I mean...it is most likely a short-term hire...he isn't the easiest guy to work for...and he has never held this position before (in college). Yeah if he pays well he will get good assistants but no one is going to leave a good gig to come to UNC for a couple of years are they? If they are looking for work I get it...but I would imagine he will be hiring guys who are moving "up" in positions rather than moving laterally?

Brady wasn't a great qb for those first 3 superbowls that was very much a defense led team. Then against the Rams for their last one, the offense scored all of 13 points.
It's pretty disingenuous to not credit Bill for quite a bit of their success.
You really need to work on your everything is either great or sucks philosophy.

I think he could have had an NFL coaching job if he wanted it this year, he likely wouldn't have had front office control though which was likely the issue
I read some article about his pursuit of the ATL gig and that ATL wanted him...until they interviewed him and then they wanted no part of him. I would never say he doesn't have something to offer as a coach/HC/GM...but what is apealing about him in this era? His titles for sure and that is what coaching is about...but his legacy is certainly interesting...by "cheating" and being unable to win without Brady. Right or wrong his age plays into this as well...if he was 61 when his NE run ended...he would have had a gig the next day!
He's still the greatest defensive mind in the game and he will establish a good culture in his program.
If I were hiring him for a job, he could pick whoever he wanted on his defensive staff but the OC would have to be mutually agreed upon. That's were the "game has past him by" arguments do have some merit. I think we'll know when he announces who the OC will be whether or not this venture will be a successful one.
As for Atlanta, that teams hiring practices are no way to judge anything.
