Yeah, **** those people that can't walk or do stairs. Put them in homes so I don't have to look at them. Exclude them in the most aggressive way possible.

You clearly haven't had to develop a website for accessibility... when the website is specifically for visual tasks. SOME parts of ADA are ridiculous. Certainly not all.

Sure within reason. Most of ADA compliance is an absolute joke. You can never make everyone happy
The standards are very reasonable, and if you have ever tried to push a wheelchair very far you would agree its a pain. Most people that are handicapped will be willing to work with the site or vender as long as the vender is willing to work with them. Things like curbs are in pain in the ass for wheelchairs, its not difficult to make them handicapped assessable, it just takes a little planning.

West Virginia's stadium and Iowa State's stadium were originally built with the exact same design.

Looks like when they added on their press box, they made it twice the width of ours.

One key difference, the stands at WVU are much closer to the field than at Trice. Really wish ours were setup the same. I think stadiums with the fans right on top of the field create a more intimidating environment and better home field advantage.

One of our Hawk trolls seems to think men’s basketball has a sugar daddy with an endless supply of money. Surely that must be true and upgrading Hilton is a piece of cake.

Has anyone seen any aerial shots of the new CYtown/parking area? Sometimes there are gameday shots but I havent seen anything so far.

There will be no major changes to Hilton or JTS unless a major gift comes forward.

$22M a year in revenue sharing and CyTown are far bigger priorities.

We just gonna have somebody post this every couple days in this thread? It's been said multiple times, and I think the vast majority of people agree/understand that. This thread is a wish list, not what people expect to happen anytime soon...

Happy? This is a matter of making sure people can exist and have a life worth living. For many who utilize ADA seating at ISU games, this may be the one good thing they get to do all week/month/year.
There is nothing stopping them from doing that right now with the current setup of JTS. There are ramps and a elevator if need be. I see many disabled folks enjoying JTS every game. We don't need to spend millions to improve a non issue.

Okay, so here’s where I’m at right now.

As I understand it, CyTown was originally intended to address the Athletic Department’s bottom line, the general overall budget. and in theory help facilitate some Iowa Stare Center repairs. Simply creating another revenue stream.

Now, it sounds like we’re pivoting to “cover that $22 mill plus NIL” as an initial goal.

My question is, how much revenue at full capacity are we talking about? Projected, of course.

I mean, a very rough guess would be to take the MacFarland Clinic lease and multiply proportionately, but I don’t even know what that looks like.

My source in Ames says there's an absurd amount of shittalking about Cytown in town how it's already failed and will not work. I'm not saying I believe this, just relaying what I was told.

Taking what residents of Ames think of commercial development and adding a ton of knowledge still doesn’t come close to even average knowledge.

You have to provide 1% of the seats to be within ADA standards, as long as the seats are in the lower level, you can have them at the top like we currently do, as long as they have a clear line of sight to the field. You must also provide space for on folding chair for a friend or family, to sit beside them.

Those seats do not have to be in the same area as the other seats of the family. So the family could be sitting on the 1st row and the handicapped person at the top with space for someone to sit with them. We used to take our daughter to games at both JTS and Wells Fargo in Des Moines, all of us never sat together, they must provide space for a wheel chair and one other person, but that can be separate from the rest of the group. Those seats must also be assessable to the concession stands and those at ISU currently are.

This is true as long as the accessible seats are located in the same pricing area as the other seats. If your first row tickets have a premium cost the venue must provide accessible seats in that same cost area.

During that Target Center renovation the Timberwolves had to start providing courtside accessible seats since they had a premium court side seat available for other patrons.

Also the 1% is just for wheelchair accessible seats. Additionally the revised ADA has requirements for seats with amenities such as moveable arm rests and other ease of access amenities.

I'm not suggesting the ADA is bad in any way, shape or form, just that it is a big cost issue when considering restructuring your seating, since a budget for restructuring needs to include additional money for ADA compliance if you were grandfathered in under previous versions of the ADA.

Rick Sanders has publicly spoken the opposite... He mentioned that the chosen developer is doing it all at once versus the proposed phases, as the demand has been strong and the developer believes strongly in the project!

This is literally the most pessimistic "culture of 'no'" place I have ever lived. Its exhausting and I've only been back since December.
