Gameday Host

They should get some kids to have little 30 second passing competitions or some little game for a couple time outs. Get JCC kids to do it off the hill. Would easily kill time and perfect way to get a kid to be a cyclone for life. Of course… you would need some kind of host or something for it…. Preferably a cyclone fan.

I'd say McCarney worked out alright (minus the whole domestic violence thing that should have cost him his job). Wasn't Pete Taylor a Hawk as well?

Should our wrestling staff be overhauled?

Being a Squawk should be immediately disqualifying.

I don’t think being a hawk should be an immediate disqualifier, I don’t really care as long as you don’t cheer for the hawks publicly after getting a public job like host or PA at Iowa State.

But if you are annoying and not great at your job, being a Hawkeye fan will compound the disdain for sure.

This is what I thought would happen. Like I said in the original post, if it’s just doing the ad reads, there is 0 reason to continue having her do this.

The proprietor of this web site talks on his podcast damn near weekly about how he grew up an Iowa fan.

They should have had her scrub her social media though.

I'd prefer none of them were Squawks. Squawks are the dingleberries on the backside of humanity.

Pete grew to hate Iowa like we do, so he's rectified. McCarney had coached other places, as had Dresser and crew. Many of us end up working for companies that we once competed with.

The PA guy and Schmillen are by their job description, defacto cheerleaders of sorts and they now have zero credibility in my mind. Especially Schmillen who is out in the open with her Flintstone logoed Squawk loving posts.

I know they have to pay the bills (ad reads). Just seems the stuff that gets people going are interactive like the helmet shuffle, audience participation like the shooting things at bball games) and short video deals like Cyclones in the NFL.

I'm sure she has a season contract so probably a thing all year.

We all saw the job posting, so any of us could have applied BUT, I didn't realize she has other local "hosting" things at games.

Like others have said, let the regular PA do the ad reads. I think a "host" type thing could be more organic....have a rotating group. "Today's host, David Carr....." And other charismatic Iowa State folks.

Schmillen I kind of get but the PA guy has lost credibility because he’s a Hawk fan?

“That’s another Cyclone…FIRST DOWN!”
“No I will not believe it”

“I’m here with the fans of section 34 and they’re estactic to show you how excited they are to flex for Ag corporation Ag sponsorship.” Not an easy job. To have any chance will require creativity. And the 55 year old marketing execs at ag Corp ag just want to come up with, just make em flex. What we’ve done for 8 years now.

That's why I have never been, nor never will be, a premium subscriber here. I still suspect he's a closet Squawk.
Can’t tell if you’re joking but this is the dumbest thing I’ve read today if you’re not

Somewhere in the foggy reaches of my memory, there is a quote about him talking to Zable ( ?) Jim asked him about coming to Iowa for announcing and he said " I went to Iowa for school but I'll be a Cyclone for life"

This quote probably isn't quite right but pretty darn close. As much as I appreciate JW, I still miss Pete.

I'll give you dollars to donuts she'll be in hawk gear in IC this weekend.

One thing I saw yesterday that I've never seen before is all the fans that were leaving at the northwest entrance were being held up by security for a long time. People were backed up all the way up the ramp. I've never seen or noticed this before.
Us east siders are more important.

If they are looking for a way to energize the crowd, and make time outs less boring, there are better ways.

Have none of the people in charge of this ever been to a "true" SEC game? I'm not talking about Mizzou. Just replicate what they do during timeouts in Oxford, Tuscaloosa, etc.

If they want someone to energize the crowd for Football, get David Carr. He’s already working for ISU and he gets good responses anytime he’s on the screen. Kids love DC, students love DC and I don’t really know anyone who is not a big supporter of him. Jamie is peeing it down his leg by not hiring David.

And what exactly do they do during SEC timeouts that is so entertaining? I'm envisioning things like a missing teeth cam or a French kissing family members contest.
