Olympic Wrestling

Amit Elor is absolutely unreal. Just handled the reigning 68kg world champ pretty easily (10-2) in her first time in 3 year years down at 68kg for a world/olympic tournament.

She's on the trajectory to be the greatest female wrestler of all time with the run she's been on already. Before she turned 20 this year she alread racked up...

- 2x Senior World Champ
- 3x Junior World Champ
- 2x U23 World Champ
- 1x Cadet World Champ

INSANE and I'd bet big that she's adding Olympic gold to that list.

100%. When was the last time she even lost? What a hammer.

She’s definitely in the trajectory to be the GOAT, but it is crazy sometimes how things can change in international wrestling. Snyder had a world and Olympic title at age 21 and hasn’t won one since in the last 7 years.

2019 Cadet worlds she lost 3-1 to a wrestler from Japan, that was the last time she lost, so 5 years unbeaten. Things definitely happen, but it seems like if she's healthy the only thing that'll slow her down would be another GOAT type coming into her weight which is sort of what happened to Snyder with Sadulaev.

Snyder had three golds before he turned 22 (two worlds and one olympic). There have been six World/Olympic competitions since and he went Silver, Bronze, Silver, Silver, Gold, Bronze. The gold has the big caveat of no russians there and all three silvers were losses to Sadulaev. So it's not as if he fell off immensely, just happened to run into one of the best ever.

Lopez from Cuba, the giant 130 kg Greco wrestler, looks on track to be the first-ever 5x gold medalist in an individual event.

He won his first match, then beat the #1 see in the 1/4 final, and will wrestle in the semis this afternoon.

Unreal.

Is there any way to watch wrestling without peacock?

I'd be happier with replay than "live" if that's an option.

Quite a bit of it was on USA channel midafternoon yesterday, which is carried on YouTube TV, These weren't live but they usually showed entire matches.

Hildebrandt in the semis this morning. She’s got opponent from Mongolia who has beaten her in the semis of the two world championships (2-6 and 5-7). Hopefully she can flip the script this time.

Elor goes for gold in the last match of the day. Session starts at 11:15 and she’s the 15th and final match, not sure how to estimate what time. Maybe 1ish?

That match was impressive. She’s quick as hell. I think she could have gotten the tech yesterday if she really wanted too.
