Olympic Wrestling

God, I just don't like GR. I get that it can lead to big throws, but watching that Chilean heavy win 1-1 three times to make the final pisses me off. (Yes, I know the second one was 2-1, but only because of a lost desperation challenge.)

As of 2:40 central, there's one more match, commercials, then Amit.

I suppose there may end up being a medal ceremony in there, too. You never know.

I like Greco.

I wish the U.S. team would do better. I see we've gone 0-3 so far in our first round matches.

I like wrestling Greco back in the day about 100x more than watching it.

Hildebrandt into the finals, winning 5-0 over Dolgorjav (MGL). She'll face Vinesh (IND) for gold tomorrow.

Plot twist: Vinesh didn't make weight.

So Hildebrandt's finals opponent will be Guzman Lopez (CUB), who lost to Vinesh in the semis.

"VINESH Vinesh (IND) failed second day weigh-in. According to the article 11 of the International Wrestling Rules, VINESH Vinesh (IND) will be replaced by the wrestler who lost against her in the Semifinal. Therefore GUZMAN LOPEZ Yusneylis (CUB) will compete in the Final. Repechage SUSAKI Yui (JPN) vs LIVACH Oksana (UKR) will become Bronze Medal Match."

An American update though, Dominique Parrish lost to Fujinami of Japan opening match. No shame there and she’ll almost certainly be pulled back into repechage and go for bronze. Fujinami is maybe the best female wrestler pound for pound in the world currently.

On the Greco side, the men complete a typical abysmal international tournament. Our 4 wrestlers that qualified all have been eliminated and went 0-5 combined.
