WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Noticing in the current Big 10 standings that there are EIGHT of their teams who are oh-fer against ranked opponents (Illinois was the 9th until their win today). That's 0-37 against the AP top 25 so far this season. Four other Big 10 teams have beaten a ranked opponent just once. Ohio State and Iowa have combined for seven top 25 wins. That league is way down this year. Even 3rd place Indiana has been blown out by at LEAST twenty points in three of their four losses. Keep it going, Buckeyes. You're probably the only thing standing between the hoks and another (undeserved) Big 10 title for Frau Bluder.

Big 12 scoring leaders. Crooks up to #4 and Brown clocks in at #15. Six freshman in the Top 15. Who do you leave off the All-freshman team that only has five slots?

Right now I think the odd person out is going to be Brown. Her performances over the last half dozen games Have dropped off on the offensive side. That is what tends to show up for coaches voting.

Brown has dropped to #15 in scoring but is still #4 in rebounds and #3 in assists so still has an overall great stat line except for #2 in TO's. Heck, in most years that would be good enough for Freshman of the Year.

Crooks and Booker will be unanimous and Booker will be Freshman of the Year.

Coaches need to collude so there's a tie somewhere and all six great freshman make the freshman team. ;)

Oklahoma wins at Cincinnati, 95-87.

Sooners are the first to clinch a top-4 spot and earn the double bye.

Hadn't thought much about Big 12 player of the year until I ran across this article. They have Madison Booker. With pre-season pick Harmon out with ACL the POY doesn't seem obvious. Ayoka Lee has missed a bunch of games or otherwise it might have been her as the net choice. Guess if Texas manages to get a piece of the title it could very well be Booker.

Who do you peeps think is POY? Booker? JJ Quinerly? Skylar Vann?

How about we give Booker POY and than give Crooks FOY? ;)

So much fun watching Indiana beat the hoks by 17 in Bloomington in front of 17,000+. They held CC to 24 points on 8-26 shooting, 3-16 from deep. Iowa shot 18% from beyond the arc as a team. The LOSS knocks them to third place in the Big 10.
On the day declared “CC day” by the state, too.

What a great environment for a game.

Assembly Hall is a great place to watch a game if you are cheering for IU. It is a caldron. Glad to see them get spanked by IU

I think the crazy thing about Clark's 24 points is that she had 20 in the first half and only 4 in the second.

Indiana really put the clamps on her in the 2nd half, did a really good job defensively, she was struggling to get clean looks. Hoosiers are a good team.

Again…I’ve alluded to how you beat Iowa. First thing is limiting everyone but Clark and Iowa only had one scorer outside of her. Indiana then hit the trifecta by shutting Clark down. I felt so bad.

as for freshman of the year. While Booker has some nice stats and plays the flashy position, I look at Crooks in the meat grinder position. To me that is what really separates her from Booker. The top stat that folks look at is scoring and Crooks leads that category without the benefit of the three pointer.

Counterpoint: Texas is the #5 team in the country.

I'm not saying who should win it. I'm saying who will win it. There's a reason Booker was one of only three freshmen in the country (and the only one in the Big 12) to be named to the Naismith mid-season list.
