WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Counterpoint: Texas is the #5 team in the country.

I'm not saying who should win it. I'm saying who will win it. There's a reason Booker was one of only three freshmen in the country (and the only one in the Big 12) to be named to the Naismith mid-season list.

Sometimes you don't "lose" an award, you just get "beat" for it. Like in MLB with Ohtani being MVP one year and Judge the next. I am a Judge fan but Ohtani also had an MVP year in 2022 the year Judge won. Crooks and Booker have both been great in league play but Booker playing PG as a forward as an emergency sub and keeping them Top 10 is the tie breaker. Unless they figure a way to have Booker as POY and Crooks as FOY.

Booker has stepped into the shoes of the consensus pre-season pick for POY (Harmon) and played like she's the POY. Doesn't fit our typical fan scenario that ISU, our players and Bill aways somehow get screwed by some sort of coaches bias against ISU and other silly nonsense.

It all comes down to voting. Bill can't vote for Audi, and Vic can't vote for Booker. It comes down to the other 12 coaches in the league.

Texas is leaving why not screw them over on the way out ;):D

Brown is averaging 13.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg, and 5.1 apg. Using herhoopstats for WBB going back to 09-10 and sports-reference for MBB going back to 92-93, I see no other Div I freshman who averaged 13/8/5. It's incredible that she's an afterthought when it comes to conference FOY, but she has the unfortunate luck of being a freshman the same year as Booker and Crooks.

Sooners and Texas win. Baylor squeaks by WVU. Baylor, down by one, steals with 4 seconds left, WVU foul with 1 second. Baylor makes two free-throws to win by one.

KSU just lost 58-55 at KU. So the Cyclones go into Manhattan against a team wanting revenge against us and coming off a loss.

K-State has been living dangerously since the TCU forfeit. Lot of one-score games since then.
I've often scoffed at my elderly mother's long-practiced philosophy of "say it often enough and eventually you'll come to believe it's true", but I'll be damned if you haven't convinced me the TCU forfeit jinx is a thing...

Two chances for ISU to get help tonight, but I don't trust either home team.

Baylor at Cincinnati - BU already up 15 in the 2nd
West Virginia at Oklahoma State

I actually wish I had a ticket to this. 14,000 in the old "Barn" would be quite a spectacle and fan experience. Been a long time since that place has really rocked. Was there for a couple of full houses back versus Iowa when Gopher men were decent but that was decades ago. Too bad Mara Braun is out, not thinking my Gophers stand much of a chance in this one.
