*** Official #12 IOWA STATE vs #18 Baylor Game(Day) Thread ***

Maybe slightly better, not much better.
We ended the game with 16 offensive rebounds to their 13. They had 8 more defensive rebounds than us but we forced 9 more turnovers. Idk how to look at 1st half only stats but I know they were killing us on the boards in the first half. 2nd half was a lot better.

It was like 22-11 or something.

BRE had 6 O Rebounds but people didn't want him playing while Ward was fouling every 4 minutes.

Driving during 1st half, listened to John & Eric. Sounded like good offense ball movement, but missed shots.
Watched 2nd half and after continuing to give up ORB for first few minutes, that seemed to get cleaned up. In fact, ISU ended up with more ORBs. Also, almost 36% from 3 is great, although all 5 makes from 1 guy.

Make just 3 more FTs and it's a win. That would've been 68.5%, about the season average.

Those stats show we played one of our worst games of the year. Crazy we were .1 seconds away from a W

That 20-0 run was one of the clunkiest whatever-0 runs I can remember. At no point during that time did it feel like ISU had some sort of momentum.

The game is kind of blur right now to me, but at least early in the first half our bigs were just forcing shots when they should be kicking the ball back out. We struggled for quite a while to find good shots against their zone.

The next time Baylor comes to Ames, I would LOVE to televise the game from the rafters just for their feed only. The rest of the country can see it normally.

Dumb question - why didn't we get the ball after Drew's second technical?

It occurred during the middle of BRE's 1st of 2 free throws. He missed the 2nd free throw (after CJ made the 2 technical free throws), and Baylor got the rebound and went on their way. I had thought a technical always leads to retaining (or giving) possession.

Our offense was cooking for the first 10 minutes or so, looked great, moving the ball well, getting open threes and shots at the rim, just weren't hitting many of them.

Regarding the camera angle, I think I read that something wasn’t finished in time where the cameras were supposed to go or a mistake was made. At this point in the season they couldn’t do anything about it but will be addressed for next season. From what I’ve seen Baylor fans can’t stand watching their own team play at home either.

Not such a dumb question cause I thought the same thing. Seems to me that we should have had the ball

The NCAA rule to my understanding on technical fouls is two free throws and possession of the ball, so I'm not sure what was going on there either. Maybe we were considered to already have possession since it occurred while our player was shooting free throws.
