Kansas/Kentucky/Michigan St./Duke/UNC/etc. always seem to find a way to play each other either through the interconference challenges, events at neutral sites (such as the doubleheader in Chicago last week), or simply scheduling each other home/home. Good teams want to play other good teams. The TV networks want those marquee matchups. If we get on that tier, I want in on those games.

:)

Those brands will always be above ISU but I do think it would be fun for ISU to schedule someone very good that isn't a bad loss for either team.

They've done it before so hopefully it cranks back up.

The next three weeks may give us a glimpse of just how good ISU can be. It's still a long season though.

We’re going to Maui next year right? Automatic huge games. Thats what we should keep doing, get in to the highest profile pre-con tournaments as possible.

That alone helps.

Also if we remain consistently good, we should start getting better Big East-Big 12 Battle matchups.

And as stated a few posts back, a Big XII/Ten Challenge would be sweet.

I will also be surprised if there isn't a Big XII/Big 10 challenge starting in the near future.

Because I don't want to work, here's what a Big XII/Big 10 challenge would have looked like this season if it was scheduled based on going 1 thru 14 in each conference in Kenpom's preseason ratings. Kansas and Purdue are both in Maui and Iowa/Oklahoma play this week, so you'd have to shuffle these matchups around a bit based on MTE's, but I don't know who wouldn't want this moving forward.

If you REALLY don't want to work, do matchups as if next season's expansion had occurred in each conference.

Related: Would be amusing having Arizona vs. UCLA as a non-conference matchup.

It would have to be FOX or CBS. FOX already has the the Gavitt Games with the Big East and Big 10 but starting next year you can get multiple days of high level games across 4 times zones.

Follow the dollars.

Just visually seeing Kansas/Houston/Arizona/Baylor as the top 4 teams in the conference is jarring. Going to feel damn near impossible to finish top 4 in the league if those schools keep rolling.

That would be as good as nearly any ACC/Big Ten Challenge, with possible exception in some seasons when ACC was actually "good deep" and Big Ten was stronger at the top.

It does take two though. I have no idea who Jamie and TJ would like to schedule but Marquette would need to agree to play ISU and risk exposing the Wisconsin recruits to ISU even more so.
I have seen that ISU had been trying to get a home and home with Minnesota in the past and UofM won't engage. They are worried about TJ getting a recruiting boost in their area.

With the Big 12 likely expanding the games to Dec once the corner 4 are added (potentially Gonzaga and ?) to the non-con season soon. I am not sure we will ever end up getting home/home non-con games in the future as fun as it would be.
I understand a low major non-con isn't attractive to season ticket holders but in the end ISU knows they will get the season ticket sales regardless of who is playing @Hilion in November and isn't motivated to schedule more aggressively.
I really have no idea why anyone like Minnesota or Marquette would come to Ames.

Did you by chance take a screenshot of the Adj Eff numbers at the start of the year? Not the rankings, the raw numbers. Just didn't see it and I forgot to take one to compare with.
