Saw that again about something else the last few days. Middle school principal sent out his weekly update a week ago last Friday, and it mentioned their need for a half-time 8th grade Social Studies teacher. Figured it wouldn't work, but maybe it's worth at least exploring.
He got an e-mail where I introduced myself as one of his night custodians. I mentioned that I don't have a license, but I do have a PhD. Turns out there is no pathway in Iowa to make that work outside of about 20 courses and a student teaching semester. That really didn't fit the quick timeframe for this need (and there's no way I'm paying for another couple years like that).

This one actually mentioned the words "several openings" and the possibility of alternative hours and remote/hybrid working. So, we'll see.

I get it, in the sense that we don't train at all for middle school/high school teaching (or really teaching at all), but it's a lot.

Extra money, have debated it for a while, more knowledgeable of the game/stay connected to it. The time aspect is certainly something that is weighing on me today as I consider if it is worth moving forward. In the next few weeks before the seasons starts I would need to attend at least a couple evenings of trainings which I get and pay roughly $300 in membership fees and equipment. I have a pilot friend that basically told me today he would add me to his crew to do CPU middle school games plus others I can pick up but then there is the childcare aspect etc. Oh and I am scheduled to take an MBA class this fall although that is online and I can do the work whenever it fits my schedule each week..So, I'll ask. Why do you want to?

Is jogging in Walmart a thing? Was in the produce section around 7 this morning getting our garlic and cilantro for making salsa today and here comes this gal in workout clothes just jogging. She went past the check out aisles. Thought maybe she was had to go to the bathroom or something but she cruised right by them. Strange.
Just renewed my plates, due 3 weeks ago. I could've went to the DMV today to get the sticker but I'm sure the line was out the door being the last day of the month, and it costs $3 more than if you do it online. It only takes about a week for the sticker to show up in the mail, just hope I don't get pulled over in that time. I can print my new registration now at least.
