I've long believed that ISU would jump at a B1G offer and that had no other answer. But listening to CW and Blum on one of the podcasts they were talking about how stupid OU is for moving. We are now in a conference that we can swing with anyone. I don't care if you upped ISU's income by 20 mil/year we wouldn't be winning the B1G with tOSU, Michigan, Penn St, USC, etc. I mean yeah, we could compete in the West as it exists today, and get to the championship and then pull a big upset. But our path to that championship is much better in the XII then one of the big money conferences. That said we would probably run to the money and the regional conference mates. But us fans would never see the money help any of us. (We all equate money to wins, and it just doesn't work that way as we would still be a way smaller budget than our conference mates.)

Honestly, I'd take the jump with no money increase just because I could drive to Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, Indiana for games. Lot easier than going to Texas. But, I'm happy with the current conference.

Those are all good reasons, and I understand your position. For me, the BIG is about stability and funding. And those two things trump the what could we do in the BigXII. With the major increase in funding, you'll see new sports to cheer for and new venues to watch them in.

I kind of thought that was a given, that if there is no invite from the B10, then both schools will stay in the P12. Neither is going to leave, until the invite, even at a reduced rate has been made.
Would they stay if AZ, CO and ASU leave? With no B10 invite, they could ask to join the B12. Those two schools would probably raise the per school media deal for the B12.

If I squint, I could see the SEC offering OR and WA. If they held a couple of neutral site games in LV or LA, the SEC could offer that late Saturday window most weeks. Besides nothing says SEC like the Pacific Northwest.

The only way Oregon and Washington end up in the B12, is if neither the B10 nor SEC gives them an offer. The question no one knows is just how big either the SEC or B10 want to get too before they say "enough". Is that number 16, 18, 20 or 24. The B10 will be at 16 next season, so they are still open for business, when and who is the question.

If Iowa State ever had an offer to the B1G and turned it down, everyone involved should be fired.

I have never understood this observation. I lived in Oregon for 12 years, California for 10, Arizona for 2, and I've driven every major interstate in every Pac-12 state. Truck stops at every rural interchange, just like in the Midwest. The Pac-12 is every bit the truck stop conference they think the Big-12 is. Their blinders are embarrassing.
You get the whole “truck stop conference” thing isn’t about truck stops only existing in Big12 states right? Every state has truck stops…

Scheer had said on the pod he was on with CW that he had thought the deal would be done by then. My guess is that was an internal deadline of sorts at Arizona as a breaking point, and we'll see some movement pretty quickly now.

Add in the report the the Mountain West is taking SDSU back, I'm guessing the Mountain West is assuming the Pac12 is gonna be no more and want to be best positioned to scoop up the remainders. Being the only conference solely in the west will be good for them and they'll be positioned pretty well to get one of the 6 auto bids into the playoffs

"...details rumored today..."? What'd I miss?
People repeating the same made up twitter rumors from accounts like MHver and the Monty Show and all these places that make **** up.

If people want to believe Scheer, he consistently says these places are making stuff up as well.

Monty claims their sources are from ESPN and other media outlets, but who the heck knows.

It probably depends on how many teams the Big10 and SEC eventually include over the next decade- 20, 24, 28, etc?

In a decade, does major college sports look more like professional sports with 2 conferences, with 8 playoff teams from each conference and a championship game pitting conference champs?

For a long time, I thought the Big10 made the most sense for ISU. Natural rivals like: Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. Very fan friendly road trips. But in an era where media money drives conference members, that time has probably passed.

If Iowa State has a place in a P2, it's probably the SEC with: Mizzou, KU, OU, Arkansas and further SEC westward expansion.

Owning territory will be critical to a Big 2 conference having a national presence.

I hope you're right, but I think it's more likely this thing gets pushed out at least another month.

Oh, I get it that we would have the stability moving to the P2 model. There is no way in hell we would turn down an offer to the big league. But I'm just saying that we as fans wouldn't see any advantage. We will always be ISU in the national scheme. But if we stay with this current model we have a real chance to be a top tier team in the XII. And as a lowly fan, winning 8-10 games/year is way more sexy than more money and being a 5-7 win/year.
