Crazy Golf Stories

It was awhile ago now and I can't find the article. But I recall reading about an olderish lady who started taking golf lessons, and in her first ever real round on a par 3 course she takes out driver on what was about 120 yard hole and aces the very first hole. She didn't understand why her instructor was freaking out. Apparently she thought they were relatively common.

First time I ever took my wife (then girlfriend) golfing (she doesn't golf, so she just watched), we went to Beaver Creek.

Hit my first drive long down the middle. Stiffed my second shot 2' from the hole. Looked over at her to see if she was impressed. Nope. Had no concept of how nice either shot was.

Some of the cart riding/broken foot stories are opening my eyes. I sometimes let my foot dangle and I've always wondered how bad it would turn out if it got stuck. I'm going to stop doing that
I was very slowly weaving thru parked carts at the clubhouse patio which was full of male beer drinkers. Half my foot was outside the cart and it caught an edge of a parked cart which jerked my cart 90 degrees & I went to hit the brakes but hit the gas instead. I climbed a restraining wall & was balanced on it. Actually what was left of it. Patrons jumped out of their chairs & lifted me & the cart off the wall & put the blocks back in place. They bought me a beer & we had a good laugh but I don’t put my leg or foot out when driving the cart anymore.

Golfing with a guy one early morning, and there was a lot of dew on the course. He's driving his cart up a pretty decent hill and his wheels start spinning on the dew, and suddenly the cart starts sliding backwards down the hill. He makes the big error of trying trying to turn out of it and the cart starts flipping over and over down the hill.

Luckily he kept all his limbs inside the cart and he was okay... the cart not so much.

Guy at my club recently hit hole in ones on back to back days on the same hole

My record when I was a kid was 54 holes, but it was extremely hot (heat waves visible on the fairway) and I walked it. I had some degree of heat exhaustion when I was done, because I had a migraine and was throwing up. Good times
I like it when posters I have seen in many forums for a long time on CF share a story like this that answers so many questions about themselves. :D

About 5 years ago I booked a last second flight to Phoenix in March to play golf. I went solo, so I was always paired together with randoms. One of the days, on the first tee I mentioned to the guy I was playing with that I was from Iowa. He said his best friend is from Iowa and that he plays baseball with him. I figured the guy was a minor leaguer so I pressed a little more to figure out who the Iowa player is. He said his buddy is Jeremy Hellickson… Since that was a super relevant name, I followed up with “I know who that is, would you mind me asking who you are?”. I then proceeded to play the next 18 holes with Clay Buchholz, who was on his off day during spring training.

Played in a best shot tourney a few years ago. They had a long drive contest clipboard in the middle of a fairway and a guy in our group blew his ball through the center of the clipboard.

Literally a perfect golf ball sized hole straight through the center of it. Feels like the odds of that are fairly low.

-Played last week and saw a hole in one par (buddy hooked first one OB). We bought him beers.

-When I was in college, I was playing a best shot tourney with some older guys and one of them had their foot dangling out of the cart and it clipped the curb, completely shattered his ankle, and thrust him forward so hard that he broke his collarbone as well. He was the sober one of the group too!

-Family member claims to have won Master’s practice round tickets in the lottery and didn’t go because he didn’t want to use PTO. Not sure I believe it.

What are the craziest things you’ve done or witnessed on the course?
I had tix to one of those international match play type events at Robert Trent Jones in Gainesville, VA circa 2005 or so. Tiger was there, Elin following him... President George W Bush was due to show up at the event. My sis was one of my guests. We're sitting on the grass behind a green, and this guy comes up, identifies himself as security of some sort, asks my sister if she'd been medically treated with radiation recently. WTF? Turns out she had. Apparently he was Secret Service, and my sis had passed and set off a scanner of some sort on the way onto the grounds and he had been tailing us.

On a par 3, my buddy bladed his tee-off through the box that holds sand and it still bounced/rolled onto the green. We saw the entrance/exit hole on the box too.
