McMurphy is good and very well sourced in Big 12 land. He won’t start a rumor and he won’t throw s**t at the wall either. This reads between the lines a lot like the CBS/Athleric reports: the Big 12 is pushing hard, and the schools are at least listening if not outright leaning our way.
I'm no expert but I'd think it means that for every $100 coming into BTN from cable carriers in all the markets it covers, $61 goes into FOX's coffers.
My point was that there's no chance that FOX isn't going to be the primary rights holder for B1G games. They already have that locked up, and since FOX owns a majority stake in BTN, they've actually had execs sitting in on meetings where ESPN, CBS, NBC, Amazon, etc., were making their pitches to get a piece of the B1G media rights, which is a pretty weird deal.

The B1G makes so much money from the BTN. They aren’t walking away to try something else. At least not yet.
There have been rumors, that Colorado has regretted leaving, and had wished they had a reason to come back. This might be the best thing to happen to them.
Also rumors for the last couple years, that the Arizona schools have been thinking about leaving too. So lets hope.
Perhaps the remaining Pac-12 members are truly unified, and are trying to find something that gives everybody a spot at the table. I would also venture to guess that nearly every remaining Pac-12 member would consider a move to the Big 12 to be some sort of downgrade. Some might eventually join the Big 12, but they will look for any feasible financial option to avoid it.

If this is their best shot, then I think the Pac 12 is doomed. This is what happens when a commissioner is trying to protect his job and what little of legacy he has.
It is crazy that not that long ago the Big10 took Maryland and ******* Rutgers and now Oregon and Washington aren't takes for them.
It is crazy in every way except $$$. Rutgers and Maryland were purely to force cable providers in NYC and DC to carry BTN. Those are the #1 and #6 markets in the country. Now that BTN is widely available, each additional market doesn't push it ahead as far. So market #15 Seattle isn't enough. And market #25 Portland isn't even close.
CW has said on more than one occasion the AZs have been in contact with the B12 for about five years. I’m not sure what they’re waiting for at this point. I think they have problems more with Cal and Stanford than USC/UCLA.
I'm sure this has been posted here or in another thread. That ACC lineup is so bad.

Every time I see a B1G map, I am reminded how unbelievably lucky Rutgers was in all of this. JFC.
They should have formed an alliance or something like that last year.
I think it is an open secret that Arizona and ASU wanted to come here but that was pre-OU and UT leaving.
Oh I get why it happened I think it is just crazy and stupid.

I can’t see ESPN reworking the ACC deal; it’s just too biased in their favor.
The PAC 12 Network couldn’t make it work with USC and UCLA; now they’re gone.
I just can’t understand how any PAC/ACC partnership deal can be profitable for both ESPN and the schools. It just seems unsustainable. Which is why I can’t understand why the Mountain 4 aren’t jumping at the chance of the Big 12 lifeboat. The PAC isn’t going to survive long-term … if Notre Dame finally agrees to go B1G, Oregon (and possibly Washington & Stanford, maybe) will join them, and the PAC is dead. If the B1G gets tired of waiting on ND, they get Oregon and Washington … and the PAC is still dead. If the SEC starts poaching the ACC, the B1G joins in and also reaches out to Oregon and Washington, and … PAC dead.
Hopefully Joel Klatt is better at this game than Dave Wannstedt was.
If the Pac stays in tact, it will be left with the same irresolvable tension the Big 12 dealt with for the last decade: two powers at the top of the conference who are unhappy with their place in the world, agitating for more, and will leave at the first good opportunity.
If I'm Yormark, that's my pitch to the Arizona schools, Colorado, and Utah. You can live on the edge for years like we did, be miserable, and ultimately have the bad thing happen anyway. Or you can just end all that and come over here for stability and a modestly higher payout.
