I’m more pessimistic than most in this thread, but stuff like this gives me hope for a decent outcome.
just reads like analyst talk nothing really there tbh
Or just the opposite. The news seems to be pretty quiet as of late. As such I think we can put to bed the rumor of any PAC-12 schools joining the Big XII.
I'm no expert but I'd think it means that for every $100 coming into BTN from cable carriers in all the markets it covers, $61 goes into FOX's coffers. But what does owning BTN mean? Innocent question, I would be curious what Fox owns a share of.
Can the Big10 walk away and start a BIG Sports platform and put games on there?
Or does the Big10 have the equivalent of a GOR with Fox past next summer?
I would assume the assets for BTN as basically television broadcasting equipment, studio and Big10 games. And the television equip & studio could just be rented/leased.
The B1G makes so much money from the BTN. They aren’t walking away to try something else. At least not yet.But what does owning BTN mean? Innocent question, I would be curious what Fox owns a share of.

So the ACC Network would air PAC 12 games that already get aired just on a different network? Talk about a desperate attempt by both leagues.
If this is their best shot, then I think the Pac 12 is doomed. This is what happens when a commissioner is trying to protect his job and what little of legacy he has.Thats a hail mary, but it might keep the pac10 intact - for now.
They would still be weaker than they were before usc+ucla left, and everyone knows UO+UW want out at the first chance. That doesnt make for stability or longevity.
It is crazy that not that long ago the Big10 took Maryland and ******* Rutgers and now Oregon and Washington aren't takes for them.
CW has said on more than one occasion the AZs have been in contact with the B12 for about five years. I’m not sure what they’re waiting for at this point. I think they have problems more with Cal and Stanford than USC/UCLA.There have been rumors, that Colorado has regretted leaving, and had wished they had a reason to come back. This might be the best thing to happen to them.
Also rumors for the last couple years, that the Arizona schools have been thinking about leaving too. So lets hope.
I'm sure this has been posted here or in another thread. That ACC lineup is so bad.

Too bad they didn't come up with this before USC left. I can't imagine it creates enough value to hold things together once the B10 grabs 2-3 more teams.

Oh I get why it happened I think it is just crazy and stupid. It is crazy in every way except $$$. Rutgers and Maryland were purely to force cable providers in NYC and DC to carry BTN. Those are the #1 and #6 markets in the country. Now that BTN is widely available, each additional market doesn't push it ahead as far. So market #15 Seattle isn't enough. And market #25 Portland isn't even close.
