Few weeks ago I was bemoaning having to sign Matt Carpenter who was released from a Rangers minor league contract and hit all of .169 last year.

And, boy oh boy, did that signing work out so far. He had 2 homers and 7 RBI today and he's playing for a salary of $1M. Six home runs in 10 games for the Yanks. Might be a comeback player of the year candidate if he keeps this up.

Carpenters hits spray chart, all of them. Saw something similar posted on Twitter but not including last game.

This dissing tweet turned into quite a self-burn troll attempt as the Yankees had already hit one out and would go on to hit six homers in the game. And the next one Stanton hit did got out and in a hurry. A better tweet would have been to play up a really good catch by the Cubs Morel in centerfield.

I can't believe this is a real tweet. Cubs fans are the ones that think every ball in the air is gone. Routine fly balls and infield pop ups, Wrigley cheers like they just won the game.

Maybe the craziest thing about this - it was the same three batters both times.

Having three guys whiff on three straight pitches each … then having the same three guys do it again later in the game … how about that plate discipline, huh?

I didn't read that far into it to realize that. That is crazy.

Good for Carpenter! All I know is he was playing for the Cardinals the past few years (2011-2021) and was pretty good. Glad he's doing well for the Yanks, late in his career.

Boy, I havn't been paying attention to MLB at all. Which is pretty typical for me. I usually check in at the All-Star game and the palyoffs.

Speaking of the All-star game, how and where are they doing it this year? Dyersville last year was great.

Rockies hosted last year and the Dodgers are hosting this year.

That's a good question. I don't know the answer but my guess would be you could get it anywhere. MLB has kowtowed to the regional sports networks for so long, I'd be kind of surprised if they put their foot down on this.

I read last night about the Bally's direct stream...sounds like the only MLB games people will get to stream are in-market games. I was reading about the Brewers regional in particular. $19.99 a month. Doesn't seem like a bad price but then it adds to the other entertainment/streaming costs so there is that.

And next year, when we idle back the unbalanced schedule crap, we'll all maybe get to see him versus our teams more. As much as I used to hate those long west coast road trips I am also really tired of seeing the Yanks play the Sox, Rays and Jays 800 times each summer. At least MLB is featuring a number of his games.

Even when the Yanks were winning in the spring the blogging talking heads were all saying they needed to trade for a top reliver because Chapman was so up and down and that they needed a catcher. Seems Clay Holmes, for $700K is now the closer and Jose Trevino for his $1.1M is their starting catcher. Two cheap acquisitions, that were already done when the talking heads were ********, that have come up golden. Trevino is great with the staff and is hitting the best of his career with a number of huge clutch hits and walk offs. Yanks would be crazy to mess with the mojo of that. A little lucky but luck is a big part of great seasons and so far the Yanks have been lucky.

Nestor Cortes gets it as it relates to team mojo:

It is sad that both Trout and Ohtani are stuck on a bad Angels team. Trout has played in only one postseason (2014).

Both had options to sign elsewhere though. Trout made his decision for a big lifetime contract, he could have moved to a number of more competitive teams. I get Ohtani's decision, west coast is a lot closer to home. Bet if the NL had the DL a few years ago he might be a Dodger. Also believe some teams were dumb enough to not give him a pledge to play fulltime as a hitter and pitcher. His arbitration salary for next year should be REALLY interesting. What is a guy like this worth? Never been an arbitration hearing like that one will be.
