Has Clemson replaced their DC and OC. Tough time for that kind of movement. Recruiting and game planning.
A good friend from work is a solid Clemson fan.

A Cyclone mentioned in a different thread that a fair number of Hawkeye fans would be attending the Clemson game; if so, who would they root for?

They will root for Clemson. You also might see a few people dressed in purple panther gear cheering for Clemson.

Years ago, Iowa played SC in the Outback Bowl and beat them pretty good; now a lot of Hawks are in love with SC, and often show up on the Gamecocks message board, in a kind of weird love affair...

Those are called Hawkroaches, they are everywhere, once they get in, they never leave.

There’s quite a few not confident this will be close. The fear is you guys still have tons of talent and our OL has been dominated by teams with good defensive fronts this year. We played Note Dame a couple years ago and got manhandled. There is concern we will see similar mismatches.

I assume you mean UNI - that's Northern Iowa. NIU around here would be Northern Illinois.

Our biggest rival is of course SC, and the roots of the hatred are sometime a city vs. a country school kind of thing; is the State/Iowa rivalry similar?

Thanks for your service and I'm glad the marriage worked out. The ISU/UofI rivalry is so bad that the UofI marching band harassed our fans after a game and then accused us of assaulting them. One little problem for the hoks, our stadium security camera system showed that there was no assault by us. ooops.

Dumb hoks, after all, our official name is Iowa State University of Science and Technology. On top of that, ISU invented the electronic digital computer (the predecessor for all of today's computers) so it's no wonder that our superior technological skills and equipment proved them wrong again.

Welcome. Our season was a bit of a disappointment given what we returned from last year, but if we end up beating Clemson it will make a lot of us feel better. Many of us have great respect for the kind of program Clemson is. My biggest fear is our O-line vs your D-line - our Oline was a major disappointment this year.

the rivalry was heated enough the schools didn’t play each other from 1934-1977 and then only because the state legislature got involved.

@Lemoore85 kind of an off topic. How does your fanbase feel about all this realignment with the SEC getting stronger since you're kind of in SEC country. Obviously a better FSU or Miami would help bring some swag to the ACC.

Have been a Clemson fan since 1972, and the Best Man in my wedding was an Iowa Hawkeye fan from Des Moines. So I am somewhat familiar with Iowa State football and have visited your great state several times. I think the average Clemson fan is very excited about playing you guys, and all indications are that it will be a very, very close game. Similar to the Cyclones, our strength is our D while our offense is erratic. I've been scouting Iowa State as most of your games are on Youtube; the teams are very, very similar. Hope everyone has a great time at the game!

Most Clemson fans, I would say the overwhelming majority, absolutely hate the SEC and would never consider joining because we see it as a "dirty" type of conference. The hope is that eventually FSU and Miami will get back on track though. I haven't seen a great deal of concern over OK and Texas joining the SEC. And of course our feathered friends from SC are SEC members which further fuels the fire....

I'm watching a lot of Iowa State's games on Youtube; I never played organized football but my son does so I'm counting on him to point out some Xs and Os that I wouldn't be aware of. Some of Clemson's problems on offense have been attributed to the O-line, but I rather think it's our QB. So the O vs D-lines on both sides might be a tie...

Iowa is like a cousin that you always thought had some screws loose, for example they always show up to our basketball and football games in Hawkeye gear, its super odd. We observe them and study them hoping we can find them the help they need someday.
