Tie goes to the runner on the silence due to precedence.
I think the Dodd tweet can be trusted more than it cant.
Could be a smokescreen but I dont think ND is competing with anyone on CMC, USC on the other hand was, CMC has already told USC, Washington and VaTech no.

Sounds like Kirk Ferentz may have mentioned something about this situation in his PR today, sounds like his advice to CMC is to stay but cant find the quote.

I have to think this year is working against Campbell somewhat. These big name schools wants "splashy", and taking a pre-season Top 10 team and going 7-5 may not accomplish that. We all know the great things he's done, but from an outsider looking in and I can see where you'd have cause for some concern at a big-named job.

If you think sports reporting draws anywhere near the editorial scrutiny of news reporting, I'm not sure what to tell you.

That isn't a defense of news reporting, by the way. Way too many sources are allowed to go unidentified. But they're at least vetted by editorial staffs.

Have you watched the news in the last 5 years or so?

while I don't doubt the authenticity of that tweet, I'd point out it was pretty unanimous that Ed Orgeron should be the LSU coach when he was hired.

It's pretty natural for the guys that are there to like the guy who they know.

Any AD worth anything would take that with a grain of salt and do their due diligence. Freeman may end up being a good head coach some day, Fickell and Campbell have already proven to be good head coaches. Maybe in doing your due diligence you find that Freeman impresses you so much that you take that risk rather than going with the proven commodities.
