There are no terrible mustaches, only people that don’t understand facial hair.

I definitely don’t understand that thing! He’s been a candidate here several times. He’s old but I guess we don’t care about that anymore.

Matt is definitely a real pro at talking for 10 minutes and saying absolutely nothing.

I find it sort of perplexing why people listen to coaches. Wins and loses and a positive culture speak more to the success I care about than coach babble. Although Dennis Green did give us the classic "They are who we thought they were" sound bite and I still call Tampa Bay "Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay" after another muttering of his.

He'd be dumb not to listen. I don't care how much you love your job - you are not doing yourselve any favors by not listening. Because the world is always changing and evolving. So to have your head in the sand and never listen or talk to anyone else is not good business...

unless your like the CEO of a incredibly rich company, then you can probably survive doing that. For the rest of us mere peeons, you should listen. Doesn't mean you should leave but always be aware. Even if you don't leave it might give you ideas as to what you need to do better where you are at.

Overall though this thread.... SMH.

Personal motto when I had concern about such things, was I would never not listen if someone wanted to talk to me about offering me a job.

thats just common sense.

God Speed Rob.

i hope he didn’t take a job at Notre Dame. Jsb would have a stroke

Point to where I’ve ever said that he shouldn’t take the ND job?

I’m an Iowa state fan and him leaving would be bad for us. That’s all I’ve said.

I think ND can have the best of both worlds. They can appease some of the decision-makers, players and recruits (and apparently fanbase) and go with Freeman. They can give it three years, and most likely Campbell is still at ISU and available. ND seems to give everyone at least 3 years, and the history suggests 2/3 seasons with 6 or fewer wins and you're gone.

I hope all this silliness in coaching salaries finally helps everybody wake up, including Jay Bilas. People have always fell for the Bilas BS that the exploitation of athletes was benefiting "the universities." It always has been and always will be the coaches that are the individuals making all the money off these kids. I hope that fake intellectual finally has figured that out instead of simultaneously crying about player exploitation while praising what great people coaches are.

I'm not worked up at all about what happens here, with the conferences, or playoffs in the future. CFB is so jacked up I'm not sure if I'll stay much of a fan. If Campbell sticks around, that's incredible, and I'll keep watching. But I'm not sure CFB is long for the world.

As a random aside since everyone is already in this thread and it doesn't seem to be posted anywhere else...

...anyone going to acknowledge Rob Gray's departure?

I should have been more clear...I meant is anyone at Cyclone Fanatic going to announce his departure. If you didn't see Rob's own tweet about it, you'd never know. Very weird.

Exactly.... Not to mention, sometimes even taking an interview is not inherently a sign of wanting to leave. Sometimes its a great way of seeing what else is there and what other ways there are of doing things. It also can be a way of keeping yourself sharp etc...

and sometimes you come out thinking "man, I'm in the best possible spot for me, I'd be crazy to leave" and sometimes its the other.

Not going to get too worked up until the die is cast.

If CMC left this year I would hope to hire
Kansas HC Lance Leopold - look at what he did at Buffalo and UW-Whitewater
In house - Nate Scheelhaase
Non HC - Freeman DC at Notre Dame

But lets make sure that Campbell and staff feel appreciated at ISU.
Someone send them a couple Casey's Breakfast Pizza's and a box of Krispy Kreme donuts.

Let everyone that thinks they know better in the game threads do a coaching staff by committee type thing, maybe a poll before every play.

@Thomasrickj for head coach with @ZuriCyclone as offensive coordinator, and @Darius Bieber running the defense. @clonedude will be special teams coordinator, since everyone wants one of those so badly

I can feel the playoff berth already

Honest question, if we are saying Scheelhaase is the guy with the main recruiting juice at ISU, and Freeman at ND, what's more impressive - ND's class being 4th in the nation, or Scheelhaase's being #26?

If Campbell left I'd be all aboard taking the big gamble on Scheelhaase. I think he's a future coaching star, and maybe if you go all in on a guy this early you have a chance at a guy sticking around for the long haul if he's successful. Now, if Heacock were to retire or leave upon a change, I'll be worried no matter what. Hell, I'll be worried when/if Heacock retires even if Campbell is still here.
