There has got to be better candidates out there than Campbell. I can't imagine any of LSU, USC, or Florida really getting excited about Campbell coming off a disappointing season. He would be a more impressive interview than resume at this point, because that's all he seems to do is talk the talk. This years team has not walked the walk. Seasons like has transpired in Ames this year get you fired at those other schools, and in fact just did at Florida. I guess in spite of what I'm typing here, I would not be surprised if Campbell does leave. We lost Chizik off of what, back to back 3 win seasons? Campbell has been much better than that, so no, I've seen less deserving people get elevated, and would not be surprised. I am just struggling to really see the appeal.

Ummm what? He just talks the talk? I'm sorry but Campbell has had more actual on the field results than any coach in the history of ISU. I don't understand this take at all.

Many folks familiar with LSU job say the AD won't take a past Ed O assistant due to litigation matters. That would eliminate Baylor's coach.

Has CMC said recently he's not leaving Ames, or has he been coy? If the latter, he's gone.

First of all, how would Aranda affect litigation matters? That's such a general statement I don't even know if it makes any sense.

And secondly, how does one measure CMC's coyness level? Is there a tell? A facial twitch perhaps, or maybe sweaty palms or frequent applications of Chapstick?

Also, what's with the italics?

If you read ANYTHING regarding Aranda he is viewed (by LSU admin) as having been isolated away from the Ed O circumstances. He is a great fit for LSU.

I LOVE CMC! But I don't see him in any of those jobs because part of the AD's job is to sell a hire and all 3 of those fan bases would need to be sold hard on CMC! Don't get me wrong...I believe any of those 3 programs would excel if CMC were in charge! But there are a lot of AD's that don't want to have to answer the question "who?" when the donors are introduced to the new coach! Inside the business is a different thing than outside that business. Total respect within which is gold...but outside that business and there are a lot of fans who are at those schools that would not be happy with an AD who hired CMC right now. A strong AD would do it in a heartbeat...but a lot of AD's are cautious and safe.
I thought this as well, and granted message boards aren’t necessarily filled with big donors but I been stunned with the big 3 openings message boards thoughts on Campbell. They have been mostly reasonable and excited at the thought of him being the head coach .

I am sure you have a great pulse on Kleiman and his plan to get to the top of the Big XII.

But you obviously know jack **** about CMC so you'll forgive us if we give your opinion the fraction of a second of consideration it deserves.

I won’t be shocked at all if Ohio State does to Michigan what they did to MSU.

Oh my. I remember when Florida State came calling. Family member told us in the local paper MC hiring was done deal per local news. I'm still waiting for the press conference.
He is great coach, His name is always going to come up. When it doesn't come up I will worry. I believe he isn't finished here and wants to establish a legacy. Regardless what we can do is show up Friday and cheer on this team till the end of the game and show our love for the Cyclones as we always do. I cant wait to head to the stadium Friday. It will be a long somber 3 hr. ride home knowing this awesome group is leaving us but the future is so bright! So many trips home where not the case.

Why is the media stuck in early 2000s head coaching carousel mode? It hasn’t been like that for close to 10 years now.
