Some companies provide their own stock as the matching funds for the 401K - a good way to keep employees pushing for the company to do well.

The good thing is putting 401k money in company stock is foolproof

There was a long line of cars trying to enter the west entrance of the Ankeny plant early this morning. I was told a striker was hit by a Deere employee turning into the entrance, but I've not heard verification of that. There were Ankeny police on the scene later this morning.

Similar scene in Waterloo. They had traffic backed up a couple miles but as far as I know nobody got hit by a car. They called the cops to clear them out.

Just a good time to remember that it's legal to hit a protester in the street now as long as you're not going out of your way to do it.

Agree. Where I grew up I knew lots of factory workers and none of those households were single income households. Actually in some cases both parents worked at the factory. They made good livings, but single income and sending kids to college hasn't been true for at least 40 years, and probably not the case for decades before that either.
Looking at census data, it looks like you are correct.
Edited earner numbers
1970 - Number of earners in a two earner household: 20.4M; US population 203M
2020 - Number of earners in a two earner household: 34.2M; US population 331M

As a function of population, the percent of earners in a two-earner household is barely different. However, there was a significantly larger two-person household share in 1970, and other data suggests that though there were a lot of households 50 years ago where both parents worked, but the second parent made enough money to be an earner, but often worked less than full-time. Nevertheless, the change in households with two incomes was more rapid and much less recent than most claim.

First, we can't really take much of any comparison to the 1950s and 60s, particularly for whites. World-wide industrial demand due to the post-war rebuild was unprecedented. Industrial capacity was decimated to an unprecedented level globally, with the US being about the only exception of the major industrial players. Explicit discrimination was the law of the land. We had two plus decades of market conditions for the white worker that have and never will be approached ever again. Not even close. Any policy maker looking to the 50s for ideas on the economy is a clueless idiot. Any policy in the 50s was simply along for the ride and gets a nice correlation without causation claim.

And pretty much as soon as that ended in the late 60s/early 70s you started seeing the number of dual household earners go up rapidly.

So, we've basically had two situations in the "modern era" of employment in the US - 1. The days where you could have it all with a single income due to a once in a lifetime demand explosion and supply contraction, and 2. The days where most households need two earners to have all the things we consider to be part of the idyllic American life.

I'm thinking of getting a rank 5 or 6 premium jet fighter, as I'm relatively new to the game and would like to see what higher-level gameplay is like. If I do get one, would it affect my battle rating? Would I still have to use my lower-rank planes if I die with it, or can I respawn with it?
Ummmm... I'm not sure what this has to do with the thread topic but I'm interested in this game.

I've seen them blocking things a few times and the police there several times. I drive by the plant in Ankeny several times a day on either side going from day care to sports fields to day care to pre-k school, it's certainly not uncommon.

Obviously somebody getting hit is terrible but I honestly have no idea why they are allowed to even stand in the street.

Edit: Ankeny PD investigated and declined to issue a citation.

I’ve been driving by that protest in Ankeny on the way to work every morning.

This is for 2020. Did John Deere plants all continue to run full time during COVID or was there some shut down happening during that year? It certainly could affect what we are seeing in this statement.
Like every other industry there have been parts issues causing more shutdown days than usual.

No, they are just using the same BS numbers they feed to economic development people when they expand or go to a new town with their hands out. Average out all the numbers with a few bloated salaries mixed in to make it all sound better.

It's Jonah Furman. Anything is possible with him when trying to make it look like JD is running a sweat shop using 12 year olds.

It only existed for a small proportion of primarily WASPish families.

I'm not following those numbers.

Surely it's not saying in 2020 34,000 out of 331,000,000 lived in 2-earner households? (one one-hundredth of one percent)?

Sorry, meant to say earner data in thousands. And it was the number of earners. In other words in 2020 there were 34m earners that were in a two earner household.
