In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

I used to get the chicken murphy both in pasta and pizza form. I'm guessing once the player graduated they decided to move? Or did West Towne Pub buy them out?

West Towne bought the space and expanded into it. I think the family moved back to the east coast somewhere but not sure on that.

Thank you! I could NOT remember that name for anything.

I think there were a few Okoboji Grills in Des Moines back then. I kind of remember a south side one and one in Pleasant Hill.

The PH was down the road from where the old Whitewater University was. If that was even the name.

I also remember one in Johnston, and one in Ankeny. I think Ames was the OG one? But I might be wrong.

The location of the main hyvee was a couple of different things. I think way back in the day it was a toy store (toys r us?) and I definitely believe it was where JOANN'S was.

The new Wallaby's is really nice. Not merely a relocation, though. It fits Somerset. The old Wallaby's triggered my mold allergic reaction.

Sorry if already asked, but is Joy's still alive and kicking? Across from Friley, not certain of the street it was on, but next to the bank on the corner.
