Anyone watch clone wars? I'm skeptical of an animated series. Is this worth a shot?

I think the Clone Wars is fantastic. Lucas was directly involved with the stories, so it doesn’t go off the rails. The guys who made it made the Madalorian. As the seasons progress the animation gets better and better. Watching on a big screen in HD it is really quite a sight with the details. They took it really seriously.

Clone Wars is extremely choppy. There are absolutely great episodes and story arcs, and there are some that are downright boring.

For example, the Bad Batch episodes in the last season were totally meh for me. The last ones with Maul and Ahsoka were absolute hammers. There was a very good clone centric story arc about Pong Krell in one of the middle seasons. I found it fascinating but some people might not.

I think the finest piece of animated Star Wars is the season 2 finale of Rebels, "Twilight of the Apprentice". It's a 2 parter and it's glorious. Rebels really shines IMO. That's the best Star Wars animated show IMO.

Also if you watch Clone wars watch it in the chronological order. Story makes a lot more sense. Some episodes jump all over the place timewise.

While I enjoyed Rebels, its biggest hindering factor for me was always its lead character Ezra Bridger. I always just found him extremely annoying and not a likable character, no matter how many seasons we get into the series. I will say he did slightly improve over time, but never to the point where I actually liked him. By comparison, Ashoka started out in Clone Wars as an equally annoying a character, but unlike Ezra, she quickly grew out of that to the point where she eventually became one of my favorite characters.

Disney finally releases footage of their new workable lightsaber they've been rumored to have been developed. Looks pretty cool.

I love pinball and would love to have my own machine. This would be amazing, but my dream machines would be Medieval Madness or Addams Family.

This is the first animated star wars series I've watched and I've seen all the movies.
I just finished season 4. Its a really good series and highly recommend it. It provides you with a ton in info and background stories. It helps you see the transformation of some characters and more insight into Anakin. If you follow this order, it makes way more sense and helps with some of the skipping around.

If anyone was unaware, Disney+ recently released a few of their old non-canon works like the two Ewok movies and the old Clone Wars 2D Mico-Series on their platform. They have them labeled in a special Star Wars vintage category. In particular, I hadn't seen the Ewok movies since I was a young little kid and even then, I don't remember much from them outside of a few scenes. Therefore, I gave them a full rewatch here recently, and I'll have to admit I'm mostly unimpressed. I found the first one to be borderline unwatchable with some of the worst acting I've seen in anything. However, I at least found the second one to be decently better, even if it still was pretty bad. After watching, I also see why these have been suspiciously left out from canon since Disney bought Lucasfilm, as there really is some weird things that happen in them that don't really match up with the rest of canon. Most particularly, there is quite a lot of magic in both movies, which isn't entirely un-Star War like (night-sisters), but I'd say not really to the extent and use it was used in both these movies. Has anyone else seen either of the Ewok movies? Thoughts? They clearly were made-for-TV movies, and you can tell.

I have vague memories of one of the ewok movies as a kid. A giant monster captures them and puts the ewoks and some little kids in a cage I think. That's all I remember because I thought the monster was scary. I was probably like 5 at the time.

I remember them very clearly from my childhood but I am 100% positive that they are terrible. Probably Star Wars holiday special bad.

I think it's interesting the Tartakovsky Clone Wars is on there now. Grevious is an absolute monster in that series and quite frankly it's probably the most violent thing in Star Wars. He kills a lot of Jedi.

I remember watching them but no actual details. I do remember even back when I was a kid that it was obvious they were not good and only made in hopes to squeeze every last cent available from the marketing surrounding the cute teddy bear-like ewoks.

I will say probably the coolest part of watching the 2nd movie was seeing the first appearance of Blurrgs, where they use some form of stop-motion filmmaking to create them. While it doesn't look great, it is cool to see them in their first form, especially after seeing them used so much in The Mandalorian. They are definitely one great production to come out of the Ewok movies.

Interesting article on how well all the behind-the-scenes executive changes at Disney are going. I find stuff like this fascinating and fun to follow, while I'm sure many others find this stuff boring. Shoot, I've even read Iger's book, which I found to be a really good read.

Rangers of the New Republic reportedly NOT in development anymore. It was always assumed that Gina Carano would likely play a big part in the series, so with her now gone, I guess it is not surprising that the show has been taken off as well.

Last summer, Lucasfilm quietly promoted "The Mandalorian" EP Dave Filoni to executive creative director, but fans just noticed this week.

Looks like Dave Filoni was promoted to Executive Creative Director at LucasFilm dinner time last year. This is a good move for Star Wars if it means more like Mandalorian and Ahsoka. He doesn't have Kevin Feige's title, but he's on his way.
