To be fair, there won’t be anybody left from this team, it’s like starting an entirely new program

I think people are underestimating how bad this is. It's a self imposed death penalty. We might as well start cheating our asses off, because what are they going to do? Ban us from the postseason and reduce our scholarships? We can't fill them anyway and we're losing every game. I don't have any money to pay recruits but if anybody needs me to drop the bag for them I'm good with it.

Am I the only one who feels like we lose more players if Prohm comes back vs if he leaves?

Who would we lose? Where are they going? I've defended the players all year, it's not their fault, but if anybody but Bolton leaves it earns a shoulder shrug from me.

It's got to be hard for the current staff to sell hope, a new coach would. I don't blame any player for wanting to leave right now....

I feel like the next coach is either going to be an older coach brought in to stabilize the program for a few years or a complete Hail Mary on an unknown assistant. I can’t see any mid major coach wanting a complete rebuild against the Big 12 coaching fraternity. I posted this in another thread but 8 of the 10 coaches in the league have been to the Elite 8 and 5 have been to the Final 4. The coaches in the league have something like 3500+ wins in their careers combined.

Dream Candidate (never going to happen) is Thad Matta.

Program Stabilizer (John Beilein)

Hail Mary Assistant (Charlie Henry)

Coach B on a 3 year project would be great. He’s a guy that could rebuild back to .500 in 3 years. Prohm has really put us in a grave with dirt being tossed on us.

I want to know what programs want them? I mean who on this roster contributes outside of Xavier Foster? Honestly he is the only current player I would hate to see leave. I think he'll be very good when healthy. Keep him and Jaden Walker, bring in every recruit from the former place of employment, the best uncommitted JUCOs, and try and keep Nunn, and Hunter if at all possible. With good coaching that team can at least win a few conference games. Which is infinite improvement.

That team would be even worse than this team.

How? I mean zero wins in conference is unheard of with any roster. You have to really work to not win at all. That potential team has a strong chance of being accidently better simply by a coach putting them into a position to win some of these games, not actively taking them out of it.

I'm not saying the roster is more talented. This current team had the talent to win a couple games. I guess I'm expecting a coach that actually coaches and adjusts to be hired to go along with a patchwork roster.

How? Because the talent would be even worse. FIrst of all you are talking about only brining back two guys, Foster and Walker. Walker isn't good and Foster is coming off an surgery and barely played this year. Then you are talking about bringing in JUCOs, when JUCOs don't have the talent at all they once had, and unsigned ones generally means they are lightly recruited. You are talking about guys that would end up on mid and low major schools. Then if they are a mid major coach you are talking about bringing in mid major Freshman to usually one of the top two conferences in the nation. And what would that be, maybe 2-4 kids? They would be far and away the worst roster in the power conferences and I doubt Hunter is going to sign up for that. No way that roster is winning anything.

I feel similar but I just don't think we can afford to have a mass exodus. Prohm was never able to get ahead of his scholarships, filling 4 or 5 spots every season is tough. He had some good classes but he always seemed to be reaching, especially with transfers and the '19 recruiting class.

My perfect scenario would be to lose the SR's plus 2/3 underclassmen, retain one of the Prohm commits,
bring in two big 12 caliber transfers and give the younger guys a chance to either develop and stick with the program or slowly bleed out if they cant hack it. Next year is a rebuild no matter what, I'd like to use it to see what we've got in some of the underclassmen and then hopefully land a big time '22 class that can hit the ground running alongside the guys that stick around.

I feel like Bolton, Harris and/or Jackson, Foster, Conditt, and 3 of Johnson, Walker, Dubar and Blackwell plus Nunn or Hunter and 2 starting quality transfers could be competitive under the right staff. Probably not a tourney team but more '17/'18ish than what we saw the last two years.

I realize that's probably pipe dream and plenty of kool aid but I think there is enough to work with for the right staff if they can make a couple key additions.

If Bolton was being used like Korie Lucious we'd probably all love him. We're trying to use him like Monte and that's just not his game.

Similar to Donovan Jackson only it took a handful of games after summer and fall of seeing how NWB was better suited to run point than him to make the switch.

they aren’t transferring to Duke. Some of these guys could go play in the Ohio valley or Southland or something like that and contribute. Not saying they will but it wouldn’t be crazy to see guys do that.

Spring recruiting desperation would lead to many of our guys getting P6 offers.
Bolton could go to any high major, although he may not want the role. He’s a starter on many tournament teams.
