Interesting take by some Cyclone fans that Prohm is a solid recruiter because he has put more players in the NBA.
Last time I looked, basketball is a team sport! The goal of a coach isn't to recruit great players, it is to recruit a great roster. That means recruiting great players and great roll players. It means filling specific rolls - a PG that can QB the team, shot blockers, rebounders, defenders, shooters, scorers (there is a difference), hustle guys, etc. And that doesn't account for bringing in guys with varied personalities.
Since we are in a Darren DeVries thread, I will bring it full circle. How many players on Drake's 17-0 roster were recruited by ANY Big 12 team? Probably ZERO. How many players will play in the NBA? Probably ZERO. It's about building a roster, not the individual players. Sure it's great to have a Halliburton, Horton-Tucker, Morris or Niang. But teams that compete for Big12 titles go 7-8 players deep- each filling a roll.
