I was using some really charitable terminology. These turnarounds just really don't happen.
Hard to say if it could happen though. Usually they dont because being awful for serveral years in a row gets about everyone fired at any school. Even ones that have always sucked.

When he goes 0-36 in big 12 to finish out his career maybe the nice guy thing will get old to you. He’s not coaching here because he’s doing us some great charity or favor. He’s getting payed big bucks to handle a big time program he should be able to deliver us a single W in the Big12, it’s embarrassing.
Don't get me wrong, he's overstayed his welcome, and I think he should be fired after this season. As a 20+ year season ticket holder, I could see the warning signs long ago. Criticize his coaching all day long, but the cheap shots and personal attacks are uncalled for. There are plenty of sleazeballs in the game, but Steve isn't one of them.

I agree with you. But I get the other guy too. I still harbor some bad feelings toward McD, I can’t help it.

I like Medved a ton and he has won at Furman, Drake and Colorado State. The CSU team loves to shoot the 3 ball and all five starters are capable. Remember those days. He would be a good hire but I suspect he might wait for a better job.
Not sure about DeVries interest either. Being on McDermott’s staff he would have undoubtedly heard from Greg the problems with this job. Especially where CSP has driven it,

Pretty sure there are $1,000,000 reasons we could attract Devries to ISU and still be paying less than we are now.

Generally speaking, I like longevity with coaches and dislike the revolving door that seems to characterize the industry. I wonder if there are any circumstances or characteristics in a coach that would make it compelling to ride it out for the long term. Good recruiting is one that comes to mind. We haven't been able to see much of how Prohm develops guys over 4 years. Solomon Young is the only example. I'm focused on Conditt. If Prohm can bring him along by the end of the season, I will take that as a good sign for the future.

Has there been any indication that Devries would want to go to ISU?

I see the name a lot but don't know enough about the situation.

Likely any interest wouldn’tbe publicly known, perhaps privately. Though he went to UNI, family has ties to Iowa, but certainly would have to think hard about an ISU opportunity. Sure McDermott would give his thoughts, unsure if that helps or hurts, I think he and JP are still in good standing.

I'll put it this way:

In school I was there before the doors opened every game. I went to school during the McDermott years. I don't know if people recall but those were less than solid.

Still maintain season tickets though I don't go to many non-weekend games.

Been to a few Big 12 tournaments.

Now? Doesn't even phase me to not have ESPN+. Prohm's gotta go.

He's right. This dude was at everything.
Heck, I'm not even typing about Kansas this week. Just no wind in the sails to bother.

Devries makes so much sense it's crazy. Has lost key players to injury and this past off season to transfer and just keeps winning. He has had different types of rosters, and adjusts and makes it work. Not to mention they play an entertaining style.

If this was the MVC of old with Wichita St and Creighton where getting at large bids was pretty common I could see a good coach staying long term like Jacobsen has. But it's going to be a perpetual one bid league barring a crazy season with a team almost running the regular season table but losing in the conference tournament.

I feel bad for Drake fans, but I think that's the reality of that job.

Paraphrase for us?
Jared says he hasnt made up his mind yet of he should be fired this year or not, but if pollard keeps him around next year it's big dance or bust. Also says no players who have stuck around for 3 years have gotten better. That its nice he can say he got these players to the nba, but the ones there were going there anyway.

Says you can't blame covid when its a multi year problem.

And those guys are all doing better without Prohm than they did with him, just like their time here.

As employees of the school Chris and Brent have to exercise constraint when discussing Prohm. Jared was able to be more blunt. He pointed out that Steve’s staff has a lot of dead weight and the program fails to develop its players. He also pointed out the flaws with how Prohm interacts with the media. I totally agree with that. I couldn’t believe it when Steve said the team needed to “stay the course” after they lost to SD ST. A team that is experiencing a steep decline needs to change.

Are Chris and Brent employees of the school or contractors for whatever media outlet they do reporting for? Regardless they want to keep.their access so can't be honest.
