We beat Iowa fairly easily when Wigginton was a freshman so maybe not every year..

We were down at half that year....it was an ugly game between two bad teams, came down to LW being the best player on the floor. We still only won by 6....and were out rebounded by over 20.

I was at a ISU @ Drake game years ago where Drake won and I said, this ISU team will be lucky to win ten games...I was wrong and I Mean Really WRONG.....This team went on to win 33 or was it 34 games...and btw I was really happy to be Wrong!

Plenty of Iowa State fans on this board. What are you wanting to discuss? Are we supposed to be optimistic about losing to South Dakota State. I feel slightly better after watching South Dakota State beat Bradley in Peoria. I would have liked to see the progress, or lack thereof, on display against DePaul. As far as the Iowa game we need to come out of the gates locked in.
I would like to see a Steve Prohm coached team locked in defensively and motivated to play against Iowa. At the 8:00 mark in the first half these have been the following scores against Iowa in his five years.

2015--Iowa 33 Iowa State 19
2016--Iowa 26 Iowa State 17
2017--Iowa State 20 Iowa 19
2018--Iowa 30 Iowa State 24
2019--Iowa 28 Iowa State 14

This is the first 12 minutes of game time. In the last five years Iowa has scored 27.2 points on average in the first 12 minutes of game time against us. 2.26 points per minute is ridiculously bad. This is preparation and attention to detail.

So what I would like to see is Iowa State locked in defensively and to be within 2-3 points of Iowa at the 8:00 minute TV timeout in the first half. If they can compete for 12 minutes then I will consider that a small positive and step in the right direction.

As a bonus request I would like to not be down by 17 points to Iowa at any point during the game. We been able to avoid that one time in the five attempts under CSP.

I would not be sad if covid decided to rear its ugly head and cancel Friday's game. I really don't want to give that coach, those players, or their fan base, the satisfaction. I hope the season goes down in flames if I'm being honest.

Going to a message board or social media to gauge the pulse of the fanbase or society in general is a horrible barometer. By and large the most vocal people are at either ends of the spectrums.

Don't hate your fellow Cyclones because they say foolish things or dont agree with your opinions. At the end of the day we all want one thing: ISU to succeed. How that can be obtained is debatable

A road loss to an instate rival, isn't the same as being outplayed at Hilton by a Horizon league team.

I guess it's kind of like when we used to play some of those hapless Iowa teams. All the pressure is on them and if they don't win by 20+ they will have underwhelmed. Honestly I'm not sure beating this team, this year should give their players or fans any real satisfaction.
