Iowa State is favored by nine over Kansas State

I didn’t know where to put this information but I don’t think it is worthy of starting a new thread. I just noticed today that that Kliff and the Cardinals are straight up running Heacocks defense in the NFL.

Not to mention the only time we've beaten KSU the last 10 years we were down 17 in the fourth quarter.

Without looking it up, i'd venture that we had early leads in all the games we lost during this last 10 years (minus the CPR beatdown)
It's taken some bizarre and corrupt things to happen for us to lose a few of those games though. This really is the one game we can't get away with playing sloppy because they win in the margins too.

No kidding! Our kicker kicks too low on an extra point. CPR risks a fumble when there was no need to. Reggie Smith inexplicably picks up three flags, the last one would have won the game for us and he was 40 yards away from the play and did not see the play at all. Bizarre and corrupt, good choice of words.

Re-upping from another K-State thread.

I show CMC's record coming off 7+ day byes at 4-5. What is remarkable is how close all of those games were.

2016: Lost to K-State 31-26 and beat Kansas 31-24
2017: Lost to Texas 17-7 and beat OU 38-31
2018: Beat Tech 40-31
2019: Lost to Iowa 18-17 and OU 42-41
2020: Beat TCU 37-34, Lost to Okie St 24-21, and ?? vs K-State

SP+, which uses play-by-play analytics, has us at #19 and KSU at #56. They are predicting an 11pt ISU victory. Earlier in the year they indicated the the play-by-play stats said OU should have beat them, and Arkansas State should have beat them worse. That was when they were 4-1 and had beaten all the bottom conference teams. Since then they've lost two more games. We seem to be in place to beat them soundly like WVU did.

That being said, I fully expect some undead Snyder ******** to make this a nail biter till the end. They'll probably get some experimental COVID treatment on Thursday night that will turn them into the Incredible Hulk for 48 hours until they all shrivel and die on Sunday morning.

SP+ ranks 0-4 Penn State #16 in the country. 'Nuff said.

It takes 7 games for preseason rankings to have minimum effect. Since they've only played 4, preseason ranking still makes up 50% of their rank. Also, they lost to Ohio State by the margin it predicted and ended up losing two other games where they "won" all the stats that are highly predictive of victory. Usually when you outgain your opponent by 200+ yards and drive into their side of the field twice as often as they do, you'd expect to win the game. Penn State did those things and still lost.

Most years SP+ is a winner against the spread (56%+). There will be misses on individual teams along the way but that doesn't mean it isn't still about the best system out there.

Almost as much as ESPN hates ISU
I usually try to be cautious about saying things like that, but when they have 2-2 Iowa with two terrible losses and two worse wins on their record in their power ranking and 5-2 ISU left off -- with ISU leading their league and their only two losses to currently ranked teams -- I have to wonder.

And it took some bizarre things to happen to win the game we did too.

Game is going to be a slug fest either way. An early lead certainly helps our case, but i wouldn't say its a must as the poster i was replying to stated.

I think if Klieman is willing to make a public comment like that, the game is definitely in jeopardy.
