Johnnie has gotten some snaps in the slot against Kansas (1 rec for 3 yds) and Baylor (2 rec for 18 yds). With him appearing to be the #4 RB, it is cool to see him filling in for Milton and Jackson.

Just another example of this staff always looking to get their best players on the field however they can.

We're going to need him (or hopefully Milton) the next three weeks because especially Texas is going to bring lots of heat all game. Need those safety valves.

Happy for Johnny. Just wondering how much of an indictment it is on our scholarship WRS

With Milton out I've been a little underwhelmed with our WR's. Getting a guy like Lang on the field is smart IMO. Thanks goodness for our TE's! I've wondered if he or J Brock could also return punts. It makes me nervous with Eisworth as it opens him up to some big hits and with how our D wasn't the same last year when he got injured. Plus him muffing one, and I understand it happens to lots of guys, doesn't help with my confidence with him back there either.

They put that Brock kid in there on a couple passing down situations and he did a nice job popping a blitzing LB/S in the gap he was assigned to. Good sign.

Good to see he is a good blocker. Hall is very good, Kene, not so much. Got a really obvious holding call in the Baylor game.

I loved what I saw from Johnnie in this game. His biggest obstacle for him was getting enough space to be deadly. He is not as patient of a runner and that may be due to his inability to truck linebackers. Now that he'll be out wide, he'll get that space and could be really deadly after the catch.... probably should have made this move sooner.
Teams are going to key on him for screens when he is out there. Perfect opportunity to slip X out for a vert.

Also, this is what the staff is recruiting Deon Silas to do, and he'll be amazing.

Lang has some speed and can catch. I'd just like to see a little more wiggle and vision from him. Running or receiving, it just seems like he's one cut away from a big gain and he never makes the right cut.

It’s an indictment in that the starting M receiver is hurt and out, the backup has been dinged up, and the third string M receiver is also injured and (apparently) out for the season.

Er, if you consider injuries to be an “indictment”. We haven’t usually used more than three guys in the slot any year under Campbell.

It’ll be nice to have Noel on campus next year.

Between Noel and Jackson, I suspect we might see Milton move back outside like he was last year. Depends on how other receivers develop. Maybe Shaw becomes a backup, or maybe we play tight ends less given we could lose a couple.

Would be interesting to see Kene at the slot. Maybe his hands aren't good enough? Just feels like we should try to get him on the field as much as possible.
