Texas’s offense had one, maybe two good drives. OSU coughing the ball up all over the field is not Texas exposing them. OSU had like twice the yards Texas did. Texas won because OSU averaged one turnover per quarter and gave up a 100 yard kick return.

And got a stupid roughing the kicker penalty when they shouldn't have been any where near the kickers

I'll admit that Manning has frustrated me on numerous occasions. However, today felt a little different. It felt less like too-cute Manning, and more like trying-to-work-the-kinks-outta-the passing-game Manning. It didn't work out, particularly the series that ended with the INT, but I think the game plan had secondary motives today, in addition to winning.

I think with a healthy team, this offense, as run, could be lethal.

The results of this poll so far are embarrassing. How anyone thinks Manning is the guy for the job is beyond me.

Why does Campbell think he’s the guy for the job? Should we be embarrassed of him?

We weren't the only team to do this today? Color me surprised.

Call me out if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I’ve ever read the thread on here complaining about the defensive coordinator. And yet I’ve read threads complaining about the offense of coordinator 10-15 years in a row.

huh
I seem to remember a certain fishing buddy of a very firmly entrenched head coach getting roasted pretty often on this board. But I can't say for certain because I've seemed to blacked out most of my football memories from those two years.

Mac's defenses were hard to watch.

Wally and Heacock seem to get the most from the talent they have/had to work with.

Heacock has done a masterful job of developing depth and coming up with schemes and game plans that plays to the strengths of our players and usually holds opponents to below their typical output.

Manning is like Prohm IMO, he's great Monday through Friday but Saturday, when DC's have gameplanned well or made adjustments to what we are trying to do, he's going to struggle matches those adjustments on the fly. He's an average big 12 coach who will have success but still has a lot of growing as a coach to get us to the next level.

Watching us against Okie St was very telling, Gundy is constantly changing up formations, packages, pace to find mismatches. Manning sticks to what he planned going in. Manning is a great checkers player but Gundy is playing chess.

I think Manning is a pretty good OC. We’ve certainly had much worse at Iowa State. Sure he has some questionable play calls here and there, but outside of the absolute best of the best who doesn’t?

Injuries are also having an effect on the offense. Missing our best lineman in Downing and also missing Ramos has hurt pass pro. Missing Milton has been huge for the pass game as well. Get healthy and the offense will be dangerous moving forward

That’s the thing that bugged me watching. OSU was just brain dead yesterday. Why on earth you go after that punt is beyond me. Leaving their T one on one with Ossai (sp?) so much was mind boggling and killed them.

ISU has been a great second half and 4th quarter team the last two years. The results suggest the opposite is true.

I think Tom Manning is doing great honestly.

I have some complaints (short yardage, whatever we're doing vs. blitz), but he has done well. And this with injuries at WR that are almost certainly impacting our offense, and an injury to our best O-lineman that is definitely having some impact (although the run blocking of this O line is the best in Campbell era)...

I get so tired of people going after the OC whenever the offense doesn't perform up to their expectations.

For Heaven's sake, our offense is #1 in the Big 12 in scoring!! Let me repeat that, the IOWA STATE offense is the highest scoring offense in the Big 12!! It's not perfect, but as of Nov. 1 it's been the BEST in the Big 12.

Those who insist on saying Manning is not very good at his job are nuts in my opinion. It seems like the type of thing you'd see on the Hawkeye message boards.
