So you disagree with Jared Stansbury and Matt Campbell about today's game..... got it. At least I know where you stand. I admire that.

I'm on board with Stanz and CMC.
Did Stanz and Campbell say they thought Manning should be fired? Because that was the poll question. Not whether he called a good game today.

If they both said they don't want Manning as the OC, then yes I disagree with them. If they thought we didn't play very well today, both in playcalling and execution, then I'd agree with them.

You can still like someone's body of work even when there's an occasional clunker whether that's a couple games within a season or a couple drives within a game. Expecting perfection is just going to make you upset all the time. Calm down and just be a fan for a bit.

I don't think Manning is a very creative coach running the zone read scheme. But I am not sure my issues with play calling fall on Manning or Campbell.

1. The decision to go for it on 4th down and 4 in the first half was a bad risk. We had momentum and we're up 13. Punt it and pin KU inside the 10.

2. The series late in game where Purdy threw the INT. IMO at least 2 of those plays needed to be runs. We were up 16 and I believe KU had 1 timeout. Use up some clock.

Obviously our biggest issue is special teams. We can't cover kick off returns. Also, no excuse for missing extra points in college football!!

I don't think anyone is saying he's awful. But if you're watching that game (and a bunch of others over the last couple seasons) and thinking "wow, we really have a great game plan here!"... I honestly have no idea what you are watching. The results today were mostly based on our offensive talent and KU being so bad.
As I and others have said. There are a ton of head scratchers. There are also a ton of beautiful drives. There’s plenty of room for improvement. There are plenty of times where he makes me mad. The question is will that improve with someone else. I think the answer is easily no.

I have to respectfully disagree..... the poll question was not if you thought Manning should be fired.

I don't think firing Manning right now would do any good at all.... in fact it would ruin this football team.

But do I wish we had someone else as our OC right now.... yep. It's not the same question.

The results of this poll so far are embarrassing. How anyone thinks Manning is the guy for the job is beyond me.

Lot less groupthink once you get out of the cave. Need to spend more time outside of it.

Okie State is better than us deal with it.
UT exposed OSU's defense today...OSU's defense is not as good as advertised, and I think it is likely that OSU will lose one or two more. The primary reason ISU didn't beat OSU last week because the offense wasn't up to the task. Manning needs to step up his game if ISU hopes to play in the Big 12 Championship game. It's the same story that has pretty much kept ISU out of the Big 12 Championship game the last three years.

Honestly if the offense sharpens up more and is consistent about it, the critiques will subside. You’ll always have those who are never happy, but the fringe folks just want to see consistency. Lots of good things this year and a lot to be proud of. Manning takes the heat and yes I’m guilty of it too but I get over it and move on to the next one. Sports are emotional.

Hey Bos can you give Clonedude a 3 day break for just being an idiot ? Asking for a friend. ;)

Kick me out for 3 days for not liking our playcalling..... geez.... when did this site become North Korea? People are so sensitive.

Probably will have to fire Stanz then too, huh? That would be sad.

I'm disappointed this is being considered today. You know because we won by 30. We're also in a tie for first in the big12. Confused about this today.

It was still a game with about 5-6 mins left in the game against a REALLY bad football team.

Obviously I'm happy with beating KU by 30 and moving on.... I'm not debating that. We should all be happy with where this team is sitting in the Big 12 right now.... no question.

I think that's what people don't understand.... you can be happy about the win, but also realize we have to play much better if we want to go undefeated and make the title game.

Texas’s offense had one, maybe two good drives. OSU coughing the ball up all over the field is not Texas exposing them. OSU had like twice the yards Texas did. Texas won because OSU averaged one turnover per quarter and gave up a 100 yard kick return.

It's the "Unpopular ISU Takes Thread"

I enjoy perusing that one from time to time and stumbled across those. Waiting for the right time to repost.

It was an unpopular takes thread and that take is pretty spot on. I don't dog on players or our coaching staffs of any sports. I get chastised for defending them.

Our fans are the NERD HERD. Juicy Wiggle, Sweet Caroline, Busch Light, etc.

Walk up to a Cyclone fan sometime and say something simple like, "Go Cyclones" and you will get looked at like you are speaking French.

isu averages around 40s for recruiting nationally and current trend about a 20-25th ranked team on average, we have no tradition, fertile recruiting grounds are far away, our weather seemingly stinks (even tho i personally love it). we are balanced, have multiple functional tight ends, we switch things up, can now consistently hit 3rd and ones, this is the glory years it will never get better than this unless the current staff stays they may be able to crack top 20 or possibly some notches into top 15. i remember looking back on herman years during messingham years with such jealosy, and i now look no where except the present, brilliant coaching staff all around.

Yes, OSU had turnovers, but their defense gave up two TDs after those turnovers. And yes, UT did have some short drives as a result of the turnovers, but UT also had two longer drives of 75 and 59 yds. And the OSU defense was not very good in the OT.

Our offense needs to get healthy on the OL but what we’re really missing is a WR that can take the top off the defense. Imagine if Hakeem was on this team

I thought OSU was pretty sharp last week and they were just not there today.
Texas is pretty marginal looking a lot of the time but then they find someone with 'Texas' talent to make a play.

I actually thought Ehlinger was tough late.

We will have a 5-1 conference record heading into the bye week. Will we need to play at a higher level to win the last 3 regular season games against 3 tough opponents? Obviously. You don't finish 8-1 in the Big 12 by playing so so. We get your point.

Please allow the rest of us to be happy with where we are right now, especially since we've never been there before. Hopefully, we'll continue to improve as we head down the home stretch.

I literally just said in the post you were responding to that I was happy with winning today and with where we are sitting right now... and that everyone should be. Reading is hard.
