I get that Coleman Lands isn’t going to save our season, but I think he’d be a solid pick up for next year.
I looked up his stats and compared them to some Big 12 guys from last year. Coleman Lands averaged 11.1 points per game on 32.1% from 3. Here are four guys with similar numbers last year.
Courtney Ramey (Texas) - 10.9 points per game on 31.3% from 3
Kyler Edwards (Tech) - 11.4 points per game on 32.2% from 3
Andrew Jones (Texas) - 11.5 points per game on 38.3% from 3
RJ Nembhard (TCU) - 12 points per game on 31.3% from 3
All of those guys are solid Big 12 players and I think that’s the hope we would have if Coleman Lands came to Ames
Indeed, Coleman-Lands projects as (at least) an average B12 starter right now, which is not magnificent but is at least a heck of a step in the right direction. He might not have PG skills, which degrades his utility slightly for not filling the highest position of need, but he is clearly better than anybody else we are closely linked to right now.
Given our current situation, he is frankly a must-get.
