This a weird question to ask. Have a neighbor who is a contract worker with health benefits. He also works a part time job. He is still working as a contract worker, but was laid off due to the coronavirus on his part time job as a line cook. He applied for unemployment for his part time job and got a check. Should he be eligible to collect unemployment benefits from his part time job? He really has to work the two jobs to make ends meet. He is kinda freaking out about it. I don't know how it works as I haven't experienced it before.

It's not me as I have a work from home job and thankful that our company is doing well. Even got a bonus for selling some items that have been hard to move the last few months.

Why is he freaking out if he applied?

Why is he freaking out if he applied?

He didn't know if he should and put 0 as income even though he has a contract job, which he could have to pay the money back. I think he's freaking out as he felt he lied. I really have no idea on this. He's called the Iowa Work Force and no one has given him an answer. I told him to not spend it till he gets an answer back as he could have to pay it back.

If he has a job that he is earning income at, and reported zero income on it, then he basically didn't report his income as correct.

Iowa workforce development asked first if you made income during the week Sunday though Saturday. If yes it asked if they were self employed wages which aren't reported.

Yes, he should be eligible.

if he is a contact worker aka self employed he should apply for the PPP Loan. Since it is forgivable it's pretty much free money. I've applied for or help a lot of my clients with it. Heck I even applied for it for myself.

I want free money.

Is there a link to start? Self-employed and do independent contractor work, on the side, for a guy who basically doesn’t pay me. (Haven’t seen a check this year).

You have to prove you've been in business, whether it be with a 1099 or payroll reports.

My self employed stuff has been going for 20 some years.

Well then I suggest you ask your bank about it first thing in the morning. I've had clients get anywhere from $2000 to $28,000,and as long as they follow the easy rules it will be forgivable.

I know a local not for profit that got $700,000.

Having rentals in an LLC would be sufficient, correct?
Not sure on rentals. I know our attorneys (also work in real estate) told us it’s not applicable to condo and coop developments. I’d consult your attorney.

Can you do it for your personal stuff and corporation stuff? Personal stuff would not be income from the corp.
