I'm going to chalk up both of these posters to young age (early-mid 20s). Hope they gain some perspective.

Yeah...they may have hated Iowa State basketball in the 80s and 90s if an 8 loss season is just 'OK'.

So...ISU looks to be going on finishing last in the conference for the second time in three seasons. That's not a good trajectory. If that happens and ISU finishes bottom three of conference next year, that's unacceptable.

Yeah and I'm not sure many are disagreeing with that notion. There will still be a few like there were in the end of the CPR era but there's got to be limits.

This is unacceptable. If that were to happen I still don't think we would make a change.

Are you happy with the trajectory of the basketball program?

I've already have told you I am not happy with where things are going. You seem to be confusing me finding your arguments to be stupid to defending Steve.

I'm not sure if anyone's happy with what's happening at ISU right now but if NCAA runs are the expectation after single-digit loss seasons in today's NCAA basketball, segments of the fanbase have reached some other dimension of expectations that's pretty crazy.

I give credit where it is due, but it’s hard to give credit when there isn’t much to be given.

And yes, I did compare mid-season tournaments to conference tournaments. Only differences between the two are that one is later in the season so teams are more developed, and two, winning the Maui Invitational doesn’t give you an automatic bid, unlike winning the conference tournament.

Please do not insult our intelligence by suggesting that you actually do this when you simultaneously advocate for a coach to be fired after winning 23 games and making the NCAA tournament.

After this response maybe you're closer to 13?

You aren't going to change his mind, He is in the camp that ISU athletics are somehow elite because we travel for bowl games and drink Busch Light and that they are all owed something.

I get it, we should always strive for more, but Jesus Christ himself coached the football team to a 7-6 record this year and they are somehow convinced that it was the most successful season any team has had ever.

Being a top 64 team more times than not and having a chance to make a serious run once or twice a decade is more than 90% of all men's basketball programs have ever done.

Nobody wants success in ISU sports more than me, but I guess I just understand how hard it is to do.

People on here have it figured out though, that's why so many AD's are reading CF looking for the next "guy."

But what if we won 4 games in 4 days in Kansas City? Would that be a successful season then?

Well......because you are the one splitting hairs then you a will appreciate that if they go 0-18.....but bring home hardware from KC.....I will consider that a "successful-failure".

This basketball program has won a grand total of 2 regular season Big 12 championships since the formation of the Big 12 conference, which is more than 20 years old now.

We did flirt with winning a 3rd midway through the season last year, and we lost some games we shouldn't have to fizzle out in the regular season, but yet winning a Big 12 tournament championship and making it back to the NCAA tournament a season after finishing in last place are somehow not good enough, and are being used as an argument to fire the coach.

It's absolutely mind-boggling when you think about it.
