If we had the choice to finish there at the end of the season I'd take that in a heartbeat right now given the roster turnover we had. #34 puts us safely in the NCAA tournament around a 7-9 seed probably and given how some already feel the sky is falling and we haven't even played a game yet that is a good spot for a projection right now I think.

Iowa at #59 basically has them as a bubble team. LOL Also interesting how the Big 12 was ranked too in comparison with the pre-season Big 12 coaches projections with the # in ( )

2. Kansas (1)
11. Texas Tech (3)
20. Baylor (2)
25. Texas (4)
34. Iowa State (7)
44. West Virginia (5)
46. Kansas State (9)
65. Oklahoma State (6)
71. Oklahoma (8)
101. TCU (10)

Did tcu lose their entire squad and coach? Werent they pretty solid? Or just solid against ISU?

I think most fans would be pretty happy with a #34 team in the nation at season end.
ISU would be flirting with an AP ranking all year, top half of the Big 12 and roughly a NCAA 7 seed. Pretty good for losing 4 starters and sets up for a great next year with the young team Prohm has.

4 starters? Did Jacobson leave?

Without delving too much into what each team lost and added, I have a hard time with a few of these rankings:

Too high
Maryland at #5
Providence at #15
Texas at #25
Notre Dame at #26

Too low
Duke at #10
LSU at # 40
Tennessee at # 41
Florida State at # 42
KState at # 46

I agree for the most part. Some on your "too high" list could be close to their placement on paper, but have some track record of dropping below hype -- Maryland, Texas obviously and Providence.

Why does Texas get the benefit of the doubt every single year?
In football and basketball. Their basketball team is ranked to start every year it seems and they finish as a bubble team, or miss the tournament all together. I can't believe Shaka Smart hasn't been fired yet.
