Is the OSU defense really bad this year?

I didn't get to see the whole game, but Baylor seemed to be ripping off chunks of yardage when I was watching. I see Brewer was 13 of 17 for 312 yards. That is 24 per completion. Somehow he only had one TD pass.

Their DBs are absolutely horrible. Blown coverages, PI, missed tackles. Their DL was decent IMO. Their QB is also really bad - dropped a football for scoop and score, had a couple bad interceptions and missed wide open receivers. Gundy might be fired. Play calling was bad also.

Another reason OSU's defense hasn't been great is they've been on the field a lot more this season, due to OSU QB Spencer Sanders throwing interceptions & fumbling it. OSU is tied at #123 in turnover margin at -9 on the season.

Sanders through 7 games this year: 11 TD to 9 INT. In OSU's first three games (@ Oregon State, McNeese, & @ Tulsa) he was 7 TD to 1 INT. Since Big 12 play he hasn't been good.

In the TT game Sanders accounted for 5 turnovers alone. 3 INT & 2 fumbles.

OSU isn't great due to their poor QB play, which is surprising.

OSU will have a hard time stopping ISU without the intervention of terrible officiating like we saw yesterday.

But they can still put up points

Totally agree, as long as, they don't shoot themselves in the foot (turnovers).

Maybe gundy will finally follow through on his threats and leave? Not likely

I watched the 2nd half of the game and it became one of those defense optional games, with both team ripping off huge plays.

He’ll end up being a really good quarterback. He’s just got some growing pains.

And if he doesn’t, they have another blue chip quarterback with a cannon arm coming in.

Bruns commented a couple of weeks ago that last year he was puzzled by how an established program like OSU could still have personnel issues with their OL. Looks like that’s still a problem.
