Kansas men's basketball charged with multiple Level 1 allegations, including lack of institutional c

And if it comes to that, so be it. We survive dosing HoF coach Roy Williams and actually got better. We will survive and thrive post-Self as well.

KU "survived" by bringing in a coach that cheats worse than the HOF coach he replaced which gave him and KU a talent disparity that he wouldn't have otherwise had. It is highly unlikely that Self would have had the results he has had without cheating.

Are you saying that KU will be able to continue getting the same disparity of talent without cheating, which hasn't been shown, since KU has been cheating since the Wilt days? Or are you expecting KU to continue their cheating ways after being punished by the NCAA?

The shoe rep. that gave the money to DeSousa has already been determined by the NCAA to be a booster, and KU agreed to that terminology as it relates to him and this issue to get DeSousa reinstated this past year.
The NCAA then used that agreement to go back after KU, they are dirty, KU has always been dirty. Its a low population state with few quality BB instate players, KU has been buying players for years and that is why the report goes all the way back to 1970's. This is not new, and has been going on for decades.
Time to pay the piper and let the chips fall were they may. Do not worry, Self will quickly claim innocence, and then talk about his great desire to coach in the NBA and be hired before next season by an NBA team.
You are not going nearly far enough back. Wilt Chamberlain has admitted that he was paid by KU boosters to play for the Jayhawks. Remember, Wilt was a contemporary of Gary Thompson so you have to go clear back to the '50s at least.

Dan Wolken of the USA Today says the NCAA wants Bill Self out of college basketball:

But make no mistake about what is happening right now: The NCAA wants Self out of college basketball, and it is firing directly at him with all the power it's got.

Had NCAA investigators chosen to go after Self merely for looking the other way or not properly monitoring his program, he could feel a little more secure about his future in college basketball. Plenty of coaches have been popped on that technicality, served their time in the penalty box and returned to normal operation.

But the allegations against Self go much further, implicating him both directly and tacitly in the corruption that was carried out by T.J. Gassnola, a “consultant” in the Adidas grassroots basketball system who admitted in federal court that he made payments to the families of several high-profile recruits, including two who ended up at Kansas.

The bottom line to all of it is this: Over and over in the Notice of Allegations, the NCAA accuses Self and Kansas assistant Kurtis Townsend of not only knowing that Gassnola and others at Adidas were working to recruit players to Kansas but that they welcomed the help and, in some cases, actively encouraged it.

KU isnt a victim in this. I just see how the ncaa has bungled pretty much everything they touch and am leery as to their intentions. Giving DeSousa a 2 year ban made it clear that they are mad that teams are getting around them and are looking to drop the hammer.

Step back away from the "KU must be destroyed" mantra and look at their handling of anything they touch. The ncaa is a joke and they are trying to fight back.
"KU isnt a victim in this."

Then proceeds to talk about how KU was a victim of how the NCAA enforced this situation.

And this means what exactly? Not in any way to impugn you HGoat1, but have any or many past allegations against KU ever really gone anywhere? Some yes, but many, No.

If true, these will likely be the same, a No or just a slap on the wrist kind of thing.

Yeah, I don't expect them to get any kind of real and tangible punishment. It is mostly just schadenfreude for me that KU's reputation is tarnished and it is a public embarrassment.

Didn't Nebraska at one time offer up academic scholarships to 1 or 2 kids in every county in Nebraska and it just so happened kids who could play football were always selected.

Yes, They used to offer all kinds of "Academic " and even "Music" scholarships. All you had to do to qualify for a music schollarship was to have once listened to music and, be at least 6'4" and weigh 300 lbs.

Do you have any links to sources for this? Kinda sounds like a made up story that doesn't jibe with any actual ncaa regulations. You know they have pretty strict rules about this, right?

This was probably in the late 70’s early 80’s when Nebraska’s roster was 180+

This was before Title IX
