I think The Breakfast Club succeeds as a comedy, although many reviewers tried to make it some sort of statement on rebellious youth, teen angst, etc. Judd Nelson steals the movie, easily.

I got shanghaied into working the hospitality room at a conference I attended this weekend on Saturday night. Didn't get to bed until almost 5:30am Sunday as were finishing off the open liquor.

The next two have always been more likely to go to ISU because of their interests. However, the out-of-state tuition and the fact that they're probably not going to get the private school scholarship offers that the first one received still make it tough.
Track season is upon us. Up to about 6-7 years ago, I hated just about everything to do about track meets, over the years, it may have now pushed up to compete right with football as my favorite sporting event to go to; or at least deal with. About the only sport where you don't typically have politics or officials to deal with. Either you ran faster, jumped better, or threw better than the others. Especially this year with the assistants boys taking over for the HC who would change people around and play politics.
Now in a few months, instead of bonding over what the appropriate pass coverage or blitz to shift into, now I get to discuss which class will be best for his major and career and how to work through his college life. I guess I'm losing a sports link, but with him taking the same major as me; it's kinda fun to give guidance on that part.

Dude, I just looked at this school that we got emails all the time for our oldest that is located in MN. These seem quite a bit higher than ISU costs, even if you are out of state. You Minnesota people must be loaded to afford college up there.

I know ISU out of state was very close to the same price I'd have paid in-state for Illinois. Made it an easy decision. Not sure what UW is up to now for in-state.......it was pushing $50k total attendance cost when I was looking damn near 15 years ago now (how?!?!??!) Would be nice for little man to be able to go to UW since it's such a good school but IDK. I better get that 529 opened....good reminder!
My former co-worker in Minnesota had his daughter go to ISU for two years before getting homesick and finishing at U of M. Said the out of state tuition at Iowa State was cheaper than in state tuition st Minnesota.
Total cost for ISU in-state is more than the cost of competitive schools in Minnesota and Nebraska for what they would have charged us. Only a grand or two a year, difference is, for his major; saying you have a degree from ISU blows the other ones away so there wasn't much of a comparison.

I have to say that Minnesota being that $$$ does surprise me. UW doesn't because of what's been going on here politically + reputation as an elite school. Minny isn't bad but I hadn't thought of them as quite the same level as UW, plus I though their state funding of the school was in better shape than WI.
Just looked at the three states. For residents for cheapest to most expensive it is Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota. It is cheaper for MN folks to attend Wisconsin schools than any other out there. I will say talking to my nephew who goes to the U and is wanting to get into their "business" school it seems pretty nasty tough. He has a 3.55 and needs to about 4 point the next semester to get where he needs to be for admittance.
