I would almost rather be a 6 and draw an LSU or Houston in the second round than get a 5. I dont want anything to do with a team like Florida State or Wisconsin right now. Florida State might end up on the 3 line though if they can beat Duke tonight.

I have to disagree here. I would like our chances against any higher seeded team in Des Moines, regardless of the matchup.

Any other year I'd agree but at times this season it seems like home court advantage was totally meaningless to this team at points in the season.

Our best win is @Tech and they had a full house.

I actually hope we get a 6 which seems most likely win or lose.

This team has similar talent to the 2 and 3 seeds...but not a couple of the likely 1 seeds.

If we're going to make a deep run the 6 is the best spot for us.

If I'm remembering my Cyclone basketball history correctly, the last ISU team that was seeded at 6 was the Dedric Willoughby/Kelvin Cato team back in 1997 that beat Illinois State and then #3 seed Cincinnati to make it to the Sweet 16, and then in classic ISU fashion we lost a heartbreaker to UCLA.

Tulsa seems like a place that ISU could easily invade as a consultation location. I just don't want them shipped to either coast where the fan support will be diminished. It just feels like a year where they'll get the 5 seed, but will have to play in San Jose because the West coast is so bad.

I don’t know why people care about Des Moines so much. Matchups are more important than location.

You just have to get your feet....right.... there..... on the pavement to see how cool Des Moines is and enjoy the fast, casual cuisine. It is Hipster Boheme on steroids cool....and we have the caucus, which makes Des Moines citizens inherently more intelligent than the rest of America...but not Canada. Much like Versailles in Imperial France, Des Moines extracts the wealth of the rest of the state and creates it into something beautiful and superior for the rubes, like sports arenas. Having the Cyclones play a tournament game in Des Moines will be the best thing since Prairie Home Companion was there on tour.

Is our only realistic shot at DsM as a 7 seed or could we sneak in there on the 5 or 6 line?

Des Moines is very likely getting Michigan and Michigan St. and they are both likely 2 seeds. I suppose one of them could fall to a 3. I have not seen many projections without the Michigan schools anchoring Des Moines.

Trending towards a 6 most of the Bracket Matrix updates from yesterday are before the game.
Thinking they are a 6 regardless if they lose today and could play themselves to a 5.

I don't see the committee putting a lower seed ISU team in DM. We'd need to be a 4 seed or higher and I don't see that happening.

(I know it's not directed at me) It's why I said "mistakenly" because I don't expect ISU to be placed in Des Moines as a #6, but that kind of thing has happened in the past. Even though it's not opening rounds, biggest one I can think of is the year ISU got hosed by having to play UConn at MSG in the Sweet 16 when UConn was a 7-seed.

Des Moines isn't getting both Michigan and Michigan St because one of them (probably MSU) will end up in Columbus. Based on NET I think Des Moines ends up with Michigan and Purdue.
