Anyone hear how he is coming along? I knew when we got him he was going to be a bit of a project. Can we still redshirt him or has he played to much.

Please change the title to include "progress" or "RS canidate" at least to something so CF'ers don't assume something negative has happened with Zion.

Zion is progressing fine, he was hurt to start the year and playing behind multiple wings with pro aspirations. He has potential there too just not this year with the current situation.

I don't think Red Shirting him is an option at this point. I assume the staff would have announced that by this point of the season.

I was wondering the same thing about Zion redshirting. I know he had a offer from Kansas, so the talent is probably there. Didn't he have an injury early on? Maybe this set him back a long ways. Is he completely healthy?

I got it.

I think he'll be big going forward for us. Just crowded out this year.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a freshman coming in and needing a year or two to develop. We have been spoiled with guys like Monte, Georges, Lindell, and now Tyrese that are ready from day one.
He was also dealing with an MCL issue late summer/early fall. Wish we could find some minutes for him, he can actually rebound.

Way up there
Did you see him play the first 12 games? He's fine for a frosh, he was outplaying Lewis the first handful of games. TL's play in Maui seperated the two but ZG played as expected IMO. Looking forward to seeing him next year, he already looks the part physically.

Outside of Naz, what players in the Hoiberg/Prohm era have come in from HS and sat the first year or two and been a major contributor down the road?

Realistically, if you aren't playing major minutes as a frosh here, you probably aren't going to down the road either.

Has anyone transferred out besides Jakolby under Prohm? Now that Prohm has more balanced classes I would expect more development of our high school recruits.

Who is Zion taking minutes from Lindell? Talen? Marial? Tyrese? Nick? Michael? George? Cameron?

And to answer your question Matt Thomas was relegated to the bench is first two years and contributed greatly his Jr and Sr years.

Thomas was not relegated to the bench. He played a lot as freshman and sophomore and started many games as frosh

of your first list only Custer and Lewis were close to the prospects that Griffin was coming into the year. Custer has developed late and Lewis has shown flashes this year.

Add in the fact he had a knee injury limiting most of the summer/fall there is no reason to be concerned.

But I can already tell this threat will start to turn to panic.
Zion. Will. Be. Fine.

Matt Thomas played over 52% of the minutes his freshman year and started the first 12-14 games of the year.

Matt started the first part of the non-con and then was replaced by Monte for B12 season and got a handful of minutes on a much less deep team.
