Man alive if Iowa State makes the Sweet Sixteen or something I'm still going to be so pissed about ISU losing to an Iowa team playing out of their minds and Shayok having a subpar shooting night in a 6 point road win that ISU was favored by 4.5 in a place they once went 20 years without winning in.

Don't even get me started on the 9 point win over a gritty Drake team.

Theory: if ISU won by 30 last night, people would be *****ing because ISU used up all of their good shooting before Kansas.

It really has nothing to do with the team, you know that. It has to do with who is coaching the team.

Look at the slobbering fools here last night when we were struggling.

Way up there
Shayok was fine last night, missed a couple shots he probably rushed but he also made a couple of the same kind of shots so it evens out. My only critique would be that he was visibly tired late in the game and still put up shots but you don't want to reign him in too much. We need his attacking mentality every night.

So? He’s got the talent and defensive presence that I’d rather utilize all five fouls than leave them on the bench at the end of the game by not giving him minutes.

Pretty sure at least two of his fouls last night were due to someone else's missed assignment/coverage and him coming in from out of position.

I assume Solo is still not 100% or working on his conditioning right now.

Either way, we have upwards of 15 fouls to give in the post this season.

We have not had that in a long time.

A productive Lard for 20-25 minutes who fouls out is... fine. Good. The drop from him to the others is not much of a drop, or even maybe really a drop at all.

That was not the case last year when that meant more Jeff Beverly.

Why do you get me so much?

It’s completely stupid to not play one of our top defensive post players because you’re worried he might foul out. It would be different if we didn’t have many offensive players, but the guards are more than capable of scoring points.

Lard has more ability than anyone on the team (sans jump shooting and dribble ball handling).....

I'm a Lard fan and I liked the minutes he got last night. But if I'm building a team based on ability, Lard would be at least my third pick behind AA Wiggy and super frosh Halliburton.

Hence why I said sans jump shooting and ball handling...

My point is he can do things no one else can on the team. And its not all due to his size and strength. For instance already this season he's made two passes that the only other Cyclone could have made was Jamaal Tinsley.

Did Shayok miss shots? Yep.

However, he also led the team in scoring, was second in rebounding (with 4 offensive rebounds), second in assists, had a steal, played great defense and was a perfect 6-6 from the line including big ones towards the end. I'd call that being pretty effective in making up for a poor shooting performance.

Nobody is saying they want to see him shoot like that every night, but I'm not willing to bench the other things he does for this team either.

We have a team where guys can have an off night and still have other players step up to help us win. That's what makes teams great.

I'd love to see us go a year without a designated punching bag for a change.

2nd game we played at full strength. Last night was not the final product. This team will get better, how quickly that happens is the question.

Is Solo working his way back into shape still?

His size and (to me) patience with the basketball will be needed Saturday.

I think so and Okie St seemed to be playing super small ball so that might have had something to do with his PT.

I never said he was playing selfishly. I said there have been times in the last few games where he's showing signs of being selfish.

Have you ever played basketball before? Some nights your shots just wont go down no matter how hard you are trying. When that happens its best to work on other aspects of your game, not keep forcing 17 shots up and hoping for the best.

So along this same logic are you upset Wiggy took that 3 to put us up six? Before that shot he was 4 of 16 for the year and 0-5 on the night.

Sling TV sucks. I was trying their free week, but they dropped the game with 1 minute left. Watched bowl games on it yesterday and it kept buffering, and the picture would bounce back and forth from HD to 1974 quality.

Great to get the win. Lots of things to work on.
Probably your internet. Always worked perfect for me.

I'm ok with Wiggington taking that three there, he was wide open. He was also 4-4 on 2 point shots before that and had made 8 free throws. Im not sure why you are comparing that to shooting 4-17.

The defender didn't execute an ideal close out but he wasn't wide open

Agreed. Definitely not wide open.
